Vikings 90-man roster player profile: QB Jaren Hall

Welcome to the beginning of our 2023 season preview content!

Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at each player on the roster in-depth with backgrounds and how they currently project forward on the Minnesota Vikings roster.

What is the best-case scenario? What is the worst-case scenario? What should we expect from them during the preseason and beyond? We will break all of that down here.

As a staff, all of us at Vikings Wire ranked the entire 90-man roster 1-90 and will be releasing player profiles in reverse order.

Best case scenario

Hall could earn the backup job quickly with a really good training camp. Mullens is likely to make the team regardless, but Hall is entering the best possible situation for him due to his skill set and experience in a similar offense to what Kevin O’Connell runs. Being 25 years old, that can give him an advantage in his learning curve.

While Hall has a lot of potential, he was a fifth-round pick for a reason. There are major warts to his game that he needs to work through, but can he? Hall will miss players in coverage and make poor decisions and that can hold him back.

Hall is going to make the roster barring being an absolute disaster. Having a developmental third quarterback is more valuable now than ever with the rule change. Hall is likely to only play in either emergency situations, injuries happen or the regular season game becomes meaningless for the Vikings.
