Video: Diego Valeri telling his daughter he won MLS MVP is the best of things

Diego Valeri’s daughter is pretty psyched about that MVP award.

May everyone react to everything with the same pure joy Diego Valeri’s daughter embodied when the Portland Timbers midfielder told her that he had been named MLS MVP, because this is just the best:

The 31-year-old Argentinian edged New York City FC’s David Villa, Toronto FC’s Sebastian Giovinco, Atlanta United’s Miguel Almiron and the Chicago Fire’s Nemanja Nikolic for the honor, capturing just over 50 percent of the votes cast by players, management and media, the league announced Monday.

“I never expected this,” Valeri told reporters from the press conference, via The Oregonian.

Same goes for Valeri’s daughter, who got the news in Spanish from her father while doing some math homework. She screamed and leapt into her dad’s arms, informing him he needed a new trophy case.

Valeri joined the Timbers in 2013, earning the MLS Newcomer of the Year award that season, adding an MLS Cup MVP honor upon leading Portland to the league championship in 2015 and making the MLS All-Star squad three times in five years. So, yeah, she’s right. It’s time to make room on those shelves.
