This week's rankings (through 9/11):

1. Champlain Valley Union High School

Record: 3-0

Preseason ranking: 1.

▶ The Redhawks have 26 goals through three games. Chloe Pecor has 10 of them, but the balance on the scoresheet (goals and assists) is impressive: 10 players scored vs. Mount Anthony; a dozen had at least a goal or an assist vs. Montpelier.

2. Colchester High School

Record: 4-0

Preseason ranking: 2.

▶After outscoring teams 15-1 in its first three wins, Colchester needed a second-half rally at defending Division III champion Stowe to leave town with a 2-1 triumph.

5. South Burlington High School

6. Rice Memorial High School

Record: 1-2

Preseason ranking: 6.

▶Rice looked more organized in the back in its second meeting vs. South Burlington on Monday night (SB won the first matchup 4-0). And the Green Knights tucked away two goals in the OT triumph.

7. North Country Union High School

Record: 1-1-1

Preseason ranking: 7.

▶ North Country made some noise with its 4-1 win at Milton. And after a 4-0 defeat to MMU, the Falcons picked up a 2-2 tie at St. Johnsbury.

▶After a 4-1 home loss to North Country in the opener, Milton has rebounded with wins over Stowe (2-0) and Montpelier (4-1).
