How Vermont fared vs. New Hampshire in the 2023 Lions Twin State Soccer Cup

New Hampshire picked up the doubleheader sweep during Saturday's Lions Twin State Soccer Cup at Hanover High School.

The New Hampshire girls recorded a 5-2 victory in the first game, while the Granite State boys collected a 3-2 victory to close out Vermont.

The long-running event pits recently graduated high school seniors from each state against each other.

New Hampshire extends its lead in both series — 21-14-5 on the girls side and 20-18-10 in the boys matchups.

In the girls game, New Hampshire fired in four second-half goals to put away Vermont. For the Green Mountain State, Abby Towle (Leland & Gray) scored and added an assist. Spaulding's Sage MacAuley's also tallied.

Fair Haven's Brittney Love was named the Vermont MVP, while Beatrice Lake of Lake Region (12th player) and starting goalie Rebecca McKelvey of Spaulding (sportsmanship) also earned post-game awards.

In the boys contest, Montpelier's Ronnie Riby-Williams, the team MVP, and Harwood's Jordan Shullenberger notched the goals for Vermont, which trailed 3-1 at the break.

Emmanuel Omar of Winooski was Vermont's 12th man recipient and Corbin Schreindorfer of BFA-St. Albans was recognized with the sportsmanship honor. Owen Lawton of Middlebury and Mount Mansfield's Eric Bissell split time in the Vermont net.
