Vandegrift soccer player Yandel Andrade, who scored three goals to lead the Vipers past San Antonio Brandeis 4-1 in an area-round playoff game on March 30, was voted the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-Area Boys Athlete of the Week for March 25-30.

Andrade received 38.4% of the online vote. Pflugerville soccer player Emmanuel Castelan, Hays baseball's Adriano Fernandez, Hendrickson baseball's Camden Malott and Rouse baseball's Oscar Salazar also were candidates. Bowie baseball player Cole Miller won the previous poll for March 18-23.

The American-Statesman will have a weekly vote for Boys Athlete of the Week and Girls Athlete of the Week throughout the academic year.
