Can USC flip 2024 four-star safety Damani Maxson from Kansas?

Back in June, Damani Maxson announced his commitment to Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks.

Kansas beat out over 25 schools including Georgia, LSU, Michigan State, Miami (FL), Houston, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State,  USC and West Virginia.

Maxson is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index as well as 424th-ranked player in the class of 2024. He also checks in as the 40th-ranked safety in the nation and the 71st-ranked prospect in the state of Texas.

Listed at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, Maxson had 67 tackles, nine tackles for loss, a sack, two pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery as a junior in 2022.

Maxson is listed as a hard commit to Kansas, but in this day and age that doesn’t mean as much as it used to in previous eras of recruiting, so keep an eye out before the season ends to see where Maxson could land. USC is very much in the mix and is lingering as a possible flip opportunity.

USC win over ASU felt like a loss in many ways.

Alex Grinch is not quieting his critics, and bigger tests await.
