US Olympic swimmer, Florida Gator Emma Weyant of Sarasota releases 2nd swimwear line

SARASOTA — Whether she’s in a pool or on terra firma, Emma Weyant is well-suited for success.

In February at the 2024 SEC Championships, the former Sarasota Shark and silver-medal winner in the 400-meter individual medley at the 2020 Summer Olympics took first in the 500 freestyle and 400 IM, and second in the 1650 freestyle. Weyant’s University of Florida women’s swim team, as well as the Gator men’s team, won conference titles.

Weyant’s timing out of the water was exemplary as well. Just before the start of the SECs, she released her second swimwear line, called the Riviera Reverie swim and activewear collection, through a collaboration with Sporti swimwear.  Her first, released in February 2023, is named the Sporti x Emma Weyant Collection.

It suits her: Olympic silver medalist, Sarasota native Emma Weyant turns NIL deal into swimwear line

“The first (line),” Weyant said on a podcast for SwimSwam.com, a swimming news website, “we had this idea of creating a collection that was more on the classic side, a more grown-up and sophisticated line that kind of followed my journey through swimming while keeping it the stable pieces I love.

“When they asked me to do a second one, I was so excited because these are so much fun to create and so much fun to see the execution come to life.”

How was Emma Weyant able to sign a swimwear deal while in college?

After the NCAA approved student-athletes receiving compensation for their name, image, and likeness (NIL), Weyant partnered with Sporti, a swimwear brand under the SwimOutlet umbrella, to launch her own line of swimwear.

“When I first heard about the NIL law, I was at the (2022) Olympics, actually,” Weyant told the Herald-Tribune last year. “One of the first calls I had (afterward) was with (SwimOutlet) and that was right after the NIL rule change. They kind of explained it to me, and I really felt a connection with them because they kind of had the same direction and goals. Then, obviously, making money while in college was a huge thing. And a new thing. And, obviously, I wanted to keep the opportunities that came to me.”

What is different about the suits in the new collection?

The biggest might be Weyant’s inspiration. The suits from her second line reflect her love of the south of France, hence, the Riviera Reverie swim and activewear collection. One of the shoots was done in Sarasota, and Emma Weyant and her two sisters got to spend a day on a yacht. Also different is the addition of an activewear line of clothing — apparel to wear once you’re out of the pool. Emma said the inspiration for that were the clothes the three sisters wore to the various photo shoots. “This is something I wear all the time and I think it adds a more feminine vibe,” she said.

The suits look nice, but how much do they cost?

Prices for the Riviera Reverie collection will range from $12.95 to $70. The collection will be available in sizes XS to XL for both active and two-piece swimwear. “These suits are in everyone’s price range,” Weyant said, “and they’re all suits that fit any body type.”

Costing just $12.95 are they durable?

“I think Sporti does a really good job of creating these suits that are not only really cute, but durable to train in,” Weyant said. “Some of the most positive feedback I got from my first collection is every time I go home, all the little kids on my team are still wearing the suits from the first (release) and telling me how much they love them. These suits are going to last you more than just one swim season. And they’re also styles that are going to carry over to different trends.”
