Uriah Hall vs. Thiago Marreta Added to UFC 175

Injury Bug Hits UFC Berlin, Uriah Hall and Steve Kennedy Save the Day

In Tuesday’s “not an April Fools Day prank” file, UFC officials announced a new bout for UFC 175 pitting The Ultimate Fighter 17 runner-up Uriah Hall against fellow TUF alum Thiago “Marreta” Santos.

UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman headlines the July 5 card in Las Vegas, when he puts his belt on the line against Lyoto Machida.

Hall (8-4), unsuccessful in his first two official trips to the Octagon, finally got on the winning track in his last outing. Hall forced The Ultimate Fighter season one alum Chris Leben to give up the fight after battering him in the first round. Leben retired from MMA following the fight.

Hall will look to make it two in a row when he squares up with Marreta.

Marreta (9-2) is also coming off of his first victory in the Octagon. After failing to advance through the TUF Brazil 2 house, Marreta lost to Cezar Ferreira at UFC 163, but then rebounded with a TKO stoppage of Ronny Markes at the recent UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Henderson II.

UFC 175 takes place on July 5 at the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas. It is the first of a two-day run of events at the venue. The Ultimate Fighter Season 19 Finale takes place on July 6 in the event center.
