UNC punter Ben Kiernan named to Ray Guy Watch List
The third phase for the UNC football program has seen its struggles the past few seasons but going into 2022, special teams could play a key part in their success.
And one special teams standout is receiving some preseason honors ahead of the season.
Punter Ben Kiernan was named to the preseason watch list for the 2022 Ray Guy Award on Wednesday. The award is given out annually to the top punter collegiate punter in the FBS.
Kiernan is one of 48 punters who were named to the preseason watch list for the award. Players can be added and dropped throughout the season before semifinalists and finalists are named.

Kiernan has started in all three of his seasons at UNC, and has a 42.7 career average which is fourth-best in program history.
The winner of the award will be announced in December.
