UNC basketball recruiting target commits to Kansas

Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels received some bad news on Wednesday afternoon.

Transfer portal target Nick Timberlake ended his new recruitment and verbally committed to Kansas. The wing picked the Jayhawks over North Carolina and UConn, taking visits to all three programs before his decision.

Timberlake had interest in North Carolina early on in the transfer portal, visiting the program one weekend. At one point, UNC had a crystal ball for Timberlake and was rumored to be the favorite in the recruitment.

But Timberlake didn’t commit and instead took more visits, going to Kansas and then most recently UConn.

For North Carolina, this is a tough loss in the portal as they really need to upgrade at the wing position. Timberlake was one of a few players the Tar Heels were targeting to fill that void.

They now shift the focus to both Harrison Ingram and Cormac Ryan, two options on the wing. Ingram is also being recruited by Kansas and will be on an official visit there as well.
