Unbeaten Colusa headlines all-Northern Section selections

Dec. 29—No one beat the Colusa High football team on the scoreboard this year.

The RedHawks went 14-0 and claimed its first football California Interscholastic Federation state 6-A championship with a 33-17 win over Sweetwater, out of San Diego.

Colusa's unbeaten run to a state title — the team's second in history — earned it a boatload of selections on the 33rd MaxPreps all-Northern Section postseason team compiled annually by the Appeal-Democrat, MaxPreps.com, Red Bluff Daily News, Redding Record-Searchlight and the Chico Enterprise-Record.

Representing Colusa on first-team offense was Bo Coronado (all purpose) and Isaiah Travis (tight end), while Will McCoy (linebacker) earned a spot on the first-team defensive unit.

Other area selections, which includes the Tri-County Region, on the first-team are Omar Sanchez (Hamilton wide receiver) and Grady Lloyd (Orland guard).

Defensively, the area is represented by Christian Padilla (Orland linebacker).

Second-team offense

One of Coronado's favorite targets this year was Landon Humphrey, who made several key receptions during the team's run to state. Humphrey was rewarded with a position on the second team, alongside AJ Schkerynec (Orland center) and Jaime Albarran (Orland running back).

Second-team defense

Adan Travis, one of many two-way pieces for Colusa, was placed as a member of all-section defense as a safety. Travis was joined regionally by Khalil Coley (Orland defensive end) and Jason Davis (Gridley linebacker).

Mikey Badaluco was selected as all-section Coach of the Year.

Volleyball awards are released next week.
