UFC Fight Night 32 Results: Brandon Thatch Finishes Paulo Thiago Early

Brandon Thatch made it 2-0 in the UFC, finishing Paulo Thiago in the first round of their main card fight at UFC Fight Night 32 in Goiania, Goiás, Brazil, on Saturday night.

Thatch stuck to his game plan and mostly stayed on the feet, scoring points with several combinations before Thiago submitted to strikes at 2:10 of the opening round.

“The only place I felt threatened was on the ground,” Thatch told Jon Anik in his post-fight interview. “I was scared of the takedown and that's what I was practicing.”

Thatch came out as the aggressor, pressuring Thiago early on in the round. The Brazilian fighter scored a takedown within the first minute of the fight, but Thatch quickly worked his way back to the feet.

Thatch continued to pour on the offense, throwing combinations of punches, kicks, and knees in the clinch. The fight came to an end when Thatch landed a knee to his opponent's body. Thiago fell to the canvas and tapped out as Thatch landed strikes on the ground.

With the win, Thatch is undefeated as a UFC welterweight, improving his overall record to 11-1. Thiago, once heralded as a 170-pound contender, has lost five of his last seven outings.
