UCF unveils Big 12 schedule for men’s, women’s basketball
UCF unveiled its inaugural Big 12 basketball schedule for its men’s and women’s basketball programs Tuesday.
The men’s team travels to Manhattan, Kansas to open conference play against Kansas State (Jan. 6) before returning home to host Kansas (Jan. 10) at Addition Financial Arena. It’s the first of nine home games, including BYU (Jan. 13) and West Virginia (Jan. 23), Baylor (Jan. 31) and Oklahoma (Feb. 3).
“We’re looking forward to playing a great schedule against the top teams in the nation on a nightly basis,” coach Johnny Dawkins said in a statement. “It will only continue to enhance our brand here at UCF and give us the opportunity to position ourselves to do some amazing things in the Big 12. Having an opportunity to play two previous national champions on our home court is something that will be great for the city of Orlando as well as our fan base.”
The schedule includes two games on national television either ESPN2 or ESPNU: at Kansas State (Jan. 6) and at West Virginia (Feb. 20) with the Texas road contest airing on the Longhorn Network. All other games will be featured on ESPN+ as part of Big 12 Now.
The Big 12 had seven teams featured in the 2023 NCAA men’s basketball tournament with Texas and Kansas State reaching the Elite Eight.
The Knights tip off the season by hosting Florida International (TBD, ESPN+) on Nov. 6 at Addition Financial Arena.
UCF’s women’s basketball team opens conference play on the road at Oklahoma (Dec. 30) before playing three of its next four games at home, beginning with Oklahoma State (Jan. 3), Kansas State (Jan. 6) and West Virginia (Jan. 13). The Knights will travel to Cincinnati on Jan. 10.
The schedule features nine home games highlighted by first-time visits from defending Big 12 champion Iowa State (Feb. 1) and BYU (Feb. 13). Texas (Feb. 24 and Kansas (Feb. 28) wrap up the home schedule before finishing the season on the road at Houston (March 2).
Game times and TV options will come at a future date.
UCF opens the season against Bethune-Cookman (6 p.m.) on Nov. 6 at Addition Financial Arena.
