Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke won't play vs Clemson football | Report

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke will not play against Clemson football on Saturday, according to the Associated Press. The senior has been dealing with an apparent leg injury and was seen limping on campus Monday with his right leg wrapped, according to the Miami Herald. Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal said earlier this week Van Dyke was “good to go” against the Tigers on Saturday (8 p.m. ET, ACCN), but he was considered a game-time decision on game day.

Van Dyke is the ACC’s leader in passer rating (171.77), yards per attempt (9.4) and completion percentage (70.5). He's tied with Georgia Tech's Haynes King for the lead in passing touchdowns (16) and is behind only UNC's Drake Maye in passing yards per game (286.8).

Clemson will play a Miami backup quarterback for the second straight season. Van Dyke missed last year's matchup with a shoulder injury.

The backup for Miami is freshman Emory Williams. He has appeared in three games this season, none of them against Power Five teams, and has completed 12 of his 15 passes.

The Hurricanes also have sophomore Jacurri Brown at their disposal, but he has yet to attempt a pass this season. He started at quarterback against Clemson last season, going 6-for-13 for 53 yards and an interception in Miami's loss.

Both Miami (4-2, 0-2 ACC) and Clemson (4-2, 2-2) are looking to avoid a third conference loss. The Tigers also hope to extend their winning streak vs. Miami to five games. A win Saturday would be Dabo Swinney’s 166th as head coach, making him the winningest coach in Clemson history.
