Two of our top-ranked area boys soccer teams, Marquette and Brookfield East, meet Tuesday

In our latest greater Milwaukee area soccer rankings, Whitefish Bay takes a tumble after a 1-2 week that included a 3-1 loss to Arrowhead on Saturday. Marquette and Brookfield East move to second and third, respectively, ahead of a Tuesday night match between area powers. Here are our full rankings and 10 more teams considered for top 10 spots.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Elkhorn

The Elks capped a 6-0 start to their season with three wins last week over Beloit Memorial, East Troy and Kettle Moraine. In the 5-1 win last Tuesday over Beloit Memorial, keeper Cody Nowaczyk had five saves and midfielder John Beilman had two goals to lead contributors for Elkhorn. Owen Backus added a goal, and Landon Rieck and Rey Paniagua had a goal and assist each as well. On Thursday in a 4-0 win over East Troy, Paniagua led the offense with two goals. Backus and Niccolo Cremascoli added a goal each, Carter Georgalas had two assists and keeper Sebasthian Datka pitched a shutout with five saves. Then on Friday in a 4-0 win over Kettle Moraine, it was Nowczyk back in goal to tally a three-save shutout. Backus had two goals, Paniagua had a goal and an assist and Cemascioli scored as well. Beilman and Emmanuel Padilla-Hernandez had an assist each in the Friday win. The Beloit win improved Elkhorn to 1-0 early in the Southern Lakes Conference race.

COMING UP

Homestead at West Bend West, 7 p.m. Thursday: North Shore teams that each entered the week undefeated look to establish conference dominance.

Wauwatosa East at Elkhorn, 2 p.m. Saturday: Our No. 7 team and team of the week hosts a Wauwatosa East team that tied Whitefish Bay amidst a 2-0-1 start.

Oak Creek at Sussex Hamilton, 7 p.m. Saturday: Our No. 5 team entering the week travels to face a Chargers team that reached the WIAA Division 1 state semifinal last year, but is looking for a statement win to rebound from a 0-2-2 start.
