Two more lose their black stripes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – On Monday the Buckeyes welcomed two more talented members of the class of 2017 recruiting class into the official fold of the team. The removal of black stripes is a defining moment as incoming players become official Buckeyes and both Jeffrey Okudah and Haskell Garrett received that honor becoming the No. 4 and No. 5 players to lose their stripes in Fall Camp 2017.

The social media team in the football program has been working overtime producing short social media clips for Twitter and other platforms to give a little insight into the program when the media is sent away and it is just the team. Two videos were 'dropped' on Tuesday morning to announce the pair of players reached their milestones.

Jeffrey Okudah is a five-star cornerback out of Grand Prairie (Texas) and was just part of Ohio State's massive haul from the Lone Star State in 2017.

Haskell Garrett is a four-star defensive tackle out of Las Vegas and powerhouse high school Bishop Gorman, the same school that produced fellow class of 2017 star Tate Martell.

Urban Meyer has been very pleased with the class of 2017 so far and their efforts they have put in. He announced on Monday that it looked like a couple of players would lose their stripes, something that came to pass.

"They're doing good. This is a really good class," Meyer said. "Really good class, and they're going to contribute."

The pair join Chase Young, Isaiah Pryor and J.K. Dobbins as players who have lost their stripe during fall camp. Kendall Sheffield, a JUCO transfer, lost his during the spring.

Ohio State opens the season on August 31st at Indiana.
