Twitter reacts: Justyn Ross taking reps with the Chiefs’ first-team offense in training camp
Former Clemson star wide receiver Justyn Ross is back on the field with the Kansas City Chiefs and building hype around what he can do for the defending Super Bowl champions next season.
The Athletic’s Nate Taylor reported that Ross received first-team repetitions in the Chiefs’ first full-team practice on Sunday, noting that Ross was heavily involved during catching drills. Great news for the former Tiger; Ross has a tremendous ceiling, but injuries have been a big part of his story.
Even so, Ross continues to work hard and has earned the trust of who many consider to be the best quarterback in football, Patrick Mahomes.
“The talent is through the roof. I think anyone can see that,” Mahomes said of Ross. “He’s getting better and better. Even though he wasn’t active all year long, he was in the building, and he was able to see the guys and how we do things. Listening and being in the meetings and some of the stuff like that. I’m excited for him. To be able to get out there and get the reps in practice and get the little fine details that we like to do in this offense.”
Could Ross be the breakout player for the Chiefs in 2023? Here is a look at how Twitter reacted to Ross running first-team reps.
Justyn Ross was reportedly “very involved” in day one of Chiefs training camp.
Ross even reportedly saw reps with the first team and Patrick Mahomes.
Ross is also reportedly trying to add special teams value to the Chiefs.

Justyn Ross got some work in with the 1's today. I'll be following him ever so curiously to see what becomes of him as camp continues as well as preseason.

Really encouraging sign here in the opening full-team practice that Justyn Ross is receiving first-team repetitions.

Also, no #Chiefs Kadarius Toney reps today.
Minimal Kelce reps but he makes every rep count.
Justyn Ross made a few catches in 7v7.
This might be Willie Gay’s year that people see his pass rushing prowess.

First practice WR obs: Chiefs are going to give Skyy Moore plenty of opportunity to be a top guy. Richie James had one of best practices with nasty juke move on catch in red zone. Justyn Ross very involved Day 1. Kadarius Toney was limited and we didn’t see him in team drills.

If someone is going to take Marquez Valdes-Scantling's "X" role in the KC offense, it's Justyn Ross.
Probably less of a longshot than folks think given MVS's performance last year and the archetypes for the other WRs on the team.
