Twitter reacts to Brandon Miller’s NBA Summer League debut performance
Former Alabama men’s basketball standout star Brandon Miller was selected second overall in the 2023 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets. Now, he’s officially played a game in a Hornets’ uniform and fans are talking.
After making his NBA Summer League debut, there was a lot to talk about. Miller had 18 points, five rebounds, three assists and went five of seven from the line.
Being such a high draft pick, fans and analysts will compare him to other players who could have been picked in his spot. As for Miller, he will be compared to Scoot Henderson.
On Twitter, basketball fans were quick to talk about Miller with many praising him, but some casting some doubt on his abilities. Here’s what they had to say.
Chris is already getting emotional
Oh, Mercy…am I gonna miss seeing him do this in Tuscaloosa. #RollTide @AlabamaMBB #BrandonMiller https://t.co/yTVr85uV1L

Fans already taking notice of his effort
You can talk about his shooting in the 4Q, but this was Brandon Miller’s most impressive sequence of last night that people aren’t talking about:

Good thing it's just the Summer League
Brandon Miller had 7 fouls and 6 turnovers in his Summer League debut.
Miller is the highest drafted player since at least 2017 with 6 fouls & 6 turnovers in a summer league game. pic.twitter.com/LTesYWQ50w

Airing out concerns after his debut
Here's the concern w/ Brandon Miller — no vertical pop and minimal strength. Finishing at NBA level will be a challenge pic.twitter.com/RidwjWx9AA

Doesn't make it a whole lot better, but not as bad!
As someone who pores over box scores to make my videos, it bothers me when the Summer League scorekeepers do such a bad job, and then those stats get taken as gospel to make tweets like this.
So I made a video showing how Brandon Miller actually only had 5 fouls and 5 turnovers https://t.co/E9LJcKLRu4 pic.twitter.com/vL4yC8Xm3K

Some future notes on Miller after Game 1
My biggest take aways last night on Brandon Miller.
1. His deep range shooting will translate.
2. He will become known as a 2 way player.
3. Going be very good in using screens on and off ball.
4. He will push the ball down the court after a rebound.— DukePanthersHornets (@FanOfHomeState) July 4, 2023
Big difference between Summer League and regular season
I know it’s easy to joke about yesterday’s game, but I really do want Brandon Miller to succeed and I think he will look a lot better playing off LaMelo than he does running the summer league squad

After all, PG is BM's G.O.A.T.
