Tulsa OL transfer Jaden Muskrat commits to Auburn football

Auburn football's offensive line continues to take shape, as the Tigers landed a commitment from Tulsa transfer Jaden Muskrat on Monday.

The 6-foot-3, 307-pound Muskrat joins coach Hugh Freeze's team after spending three seasons with the Golden Hurricane. Muskrat's coach at Tulsa was Philip Montgomery, who was fired this offseason after compiling a 43-53 record over eight seasons. Montgomery was hired by Freeze in December to be his offensive coordinator.

Muskrat is the second offensive lineman to transfer out of Tulsa and to Auburn in the past few months, as Dillon Wade, who appears to be in pole position to be AU's starting left tackle come September, committed to the Tigers in December.

Muskrat, who played on both the defensive and offensive lines in high school, was rated by the 247Sports Composite as a two-star defensive tackle coming out of Bentonville West in Centerton, Arkansas in the Class of 2020. He redshirted his freshman year at Tulsa after appearing in four games, including one start at right tackle against Mississippi State in the Armed Forces Bowl in December 2020.

Hampered by an injury in 2021, Muskrat only appeared in four games before becoming a full-time starter in 2022.

Muskrat is the fourth player to transfer to Auburn since spring practice ended, as quarterback Payton Thorne (Michigan State), wide receiver Caleb Burton (Ohio State) and pass rusher Jalen McLeod (Appalachian State) have each pledged to play for the Tigers in 2023.

Since Freeze was hired in November, Auburn has added Muskrat, Wade, right tackle Gunner Britton (Western Kentucky) and center Avery Jones (East Carolina) via the transfer portal to replenish the offensive line. Other newcomers on the O-line include Izavion Miller from Southwest Mississippi Community College and high school recruits Connor Lew, Tyler Johnson, Bradyn Joiner and Clay Wedin.
