Tuesday's Top Prep Performers: Justin Rener hits 11 3-pointers to set Simi Valley record

Highlights from Tuesday in high school sports:

BOYS BASKETBALL

  • Justin Rener hit 11 3-pointers to break the Simi Valley single-season record and finished with 38 points and Ryder Mjoen had 22 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds to lead the Pioneers (3-0) to a 79-56 win over Dunn in the Coach C Classic at Santa Clara High. Rener broke the school record of nine, set by Brandon Simon in 2006, and moved to second on the all-time county list. Kyler Vea of Santa Clara holds the county record, hitting 13 during a game in the 2019-20 season.

  • Trent MacLean hit four 3-pointers and finished with 31 points, eight rebounds and three assists, Elias Chin had his sixth career triple-double and second to start the season with 15 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds, and Garrett Powell hit six 3-pointers and scored 19 points to lead Thousand Oaks to a 78-74 win over Valencia in the Coach C Classic at Santa Clara High.

  • Austin Maziasz finished with 29 points and five rebounds, Kayden Elsokary had 21 points, six rebounds and four assists, and Dante Deshautelle had 10 points, four assists and two steals as Westlake (1-0) opened its season with a 73-46 win over Oxnard in the Coach C Classic at Santa Clara High. Nathaniel Gomez had 16 points and five rebounds, Marcos Ramirez scored 13 points, and Matthew Samaan had nine points for the Yellowjackets (2-1).

  • Jordan Hogueban scored 18 points and Hunter Caplan had 17 points to lead Brentwood to a 100-18 win over Santa Clara in the Coach C Classic at Santa Clara High.

  • Luke Ortiz finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds, Wakine Molina had 20 points and four steals, Josh Ullegue had 16 points and five assists, and Jayden Iyer scored 11 points as Buena improved to 5-0 with a 75-66 overtime win over St. Bonaventure.

  • Jackson Knowles had 19 points and three assists, John Moreno had 14 points and two steals, Rohan Stankey finished with 12 points and five rebounds, and Owen Ousley had 10 points, six rebounds and four assists to lead Rio Mesa (2-1) to a 73-21 victory over Bishop Diego.

  • Ace Arnold scored 23 points, Gavin Wright had 13 points, Nolan Suarez contributed seven points, and Kyle O’Connor and Parker Hill each added five points to lead Royal (3-1) to a 62-42 win over Westminster at the Rancho Alamitos Tournament.

  • Jose Valdovinos finished with 27 points and five assists, Carlos Xicotencatl had 14 points, four assists and four rebounds, David Alvarez contributed 13 points, four rebounds and three assists, Sabino Duarte had 11 rebounds and four points, and JJ De Santiago had nine rebounds, five blocks and four points to lead Santa Paula (3-0) to a 66-49 win over Patriots in the Jurupa Hills Tournament.

  • Tyler Hook scored 17 points, Josh Castaniero had 14 points and Evan Dela Paz added six points for Camarillo (2-2) in its 53-48 loss to Flintridge Prep in the Thanksgiving Feast Tournament at San Gabriel High.

  • DJ Jacob scored 15 points, Ethan Klopp and Peter Iba each finished with 14 points, and Mathis Simonet had eight points as Agoura (0-1) opened its season with a 59-57, double-overtime loss to La Canada in the West Valley Tournament at Chaminade High.

  • Ashton Brown scored 30 points, hitting 8 of 10 free-throw attempts, to lead Foothill Tech (1-4) to a 53-31 win over Fillmore. For the Flashes (0-4), Octavio Orozco had eight points and 10 rebounds, Ryan Mynatt scored eight points, Joey Ocegueda had five points and seven rebounds, and Jaimie Soto finished with five points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

  • Kierabella Coletta-Todd finished with 29 points, 11 rebounds and five steals, Kimiko Carmer had 18 points, 12 rebounds, four steals, two blocks and two assists, Skylar Komatsu had 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists, four steals and four blocks, and Kai Mekari had six points, eight assists, five rebounds, three blocks and two steals to lead Newbury Park to a 65-31 win over Santa Clara. Alyssa Olmos scored 13 points, Miranda Williams had eight points and Beyonce Hernandez had five points for the Saints.

  • Sofia Salgado scored 23 points, Sienna Angell finished with 15 points and Kayla Lumas had 12 points as Oxnard improved to 3-0 with a 68-66 win over Louisville.

BOYS SOCCER

  • David Marmolejo finished with four goals, Mateo Vargas netted two goals, and Alejo Lopez, Aiden Gonzalez, Ricky Juarez-Cuevas, Brody Fuchs and Isaiah Plaza all had goals to lead Rio Mesa (3-1-0) to an 11-0 victory over Santa Clara in a nonleague match.

GIRLS SOCCER

  • Freshman Hollis Lawson scored the first goal and Hallie Barlow headed in Alessia Spies corner kick for the eventual game-winning score as St. Bonaventure opened its season with a 2-1 win over visiting de Toledo. Lainey LaJoie earned the win in net.

BOYS WRESTLING

  • Camarillo defeated Buena 61-15. Alexander Alvarez (106 pounds), Sean Zapata (113), Nathan Palmer (120), David Medina (132), Isaac Ghaffari (138), Ryan Williams (150), Angelo Otero (157), Balmoris Ardon (190), and Andrew Williams (215) each won by fall.

GIRLS WRESTLING

  • Camarillo defeated Buena 48-21. Arielle Quintana (170), Sofia Fernandez (135) and Millie Smith (125) all won by fall.

GIRLS WATER POLO

  • Camilla Cortez and Elyssa Garcia each scored three goals for Santa Paula (1-1) in its 14-9 loss to Malibu.
