Tuesday's Top Prep Performers: Calabasas baseball hands Westlake first loss of season

Highlights from Tuesday in high school sports:

BASEBALL

  • Jordan Kingston allowed two runs in a complete-game effort, Nate Castellon was 2 for 3, and Brandon Hoffman and Will Stubington each had a hit and an RBI as Calabasas (7-4, 1-0) handed Westlake its first loss of the season with a 3-2 win in a Marmonte League opener. Andrew Habermann allowed three runs in five innings, Nolan Johnson had his 100th career hit to tie Cutter Dykstra for fifth on the school's all-time list, Will Kaczynski went 2 for 3, and Noah Stead had an RBI for the Warriors (9-1, 0-1).

  • Nathaniel Nunez went 3 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs, Luke Medhurst was 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Tyler Field went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, Cameron Faussett was 2 for 5 with an RBI, Cole Munyon had a double and an RBI, and Grayson Paul allowed three earned runs in six innings to lead Newbury Park (6-3, 1-0) to a 9-6 win over Agoura in a Marmonte League opener. Kaden Graves went 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI, Mike Moran was 1 for 2 with two RBIs, Gavin Trafficanda went 2 for 3, and Will Michelman had a double and an RBI for the Chargers (6-5, 0-1).

  • Jack Laubacher pitched a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and a walk, Elijah Clayton went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Carson Sheffer was 2 for 4 with a triple, and Quentin Young had a hit and an RBI to lead Oaks Christian (5-3, 1-0) to a 4-0 victory over Thousand Oaks in a Marmonte League opener. Jaden Kolkowski allowed two earned runs in 3.2 innings and Cole Howard went 2 for 3 for the Lancers (6-5, 0-1).

  • Josh Woodworth allowed two hits while striking out three in four scoreless innings and hit a two-run home run, Shane Farrell didn't allow a hit or a run in three innings for the save, and Luis Jungo went 2 for 3 to lead Ventura (8-6, 5-2) to a 4-0 win over Oxnard in a Channel League game. Nate Gomez struck out nine and allowed just two hits and no runs in 5.2 innings for the Yellowjackets (6-6, 2-5).

  • Devon Wilkes went 2 for 5 with a double, Ryan Reyes was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Riley Ortega, Sal Lopez and Alex Villicana each had two hits for Pacifica (6-7-1, 3-4) in its 5-4, eight-inning loss to San Marcos in a Channel League game.

  • Tommy Castenada hit a grand slam, Josh Cardenas went 2 for 2 with two walks and an RBI, and Hunter Cervantes was 1 for 4 with two RBIs for Rio Mesa (8-5-1, 4-3) in its 11-9 loss to Dos Pueblos in a Channel League game.

  • Erick Barron went 1 for 2 with a triple, Brody Kaylor had an RBI, and Kenny Welch 1 for 3 with a double for Buena (1-13, 1-7) in its 7-1 loss to Santa Barbara in a Channel League game.

  • Aiden Gomez went 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs, Tristan Stehle was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Hayden Villa went 1 for 3 with two RBIs, Russell Brown was 1 for 4 with an RBI, Bronson Taylor went 2 for 3, Jack Pankrats allowed six hits and one run in five innings, and Bronson Taylor pitched a scoreless inning for the save to lead Foothill Tech (6-5-1) to a 7-4 win over Canyon in a nonleague game.

SOFTBALL

  • Gia Otani hit a three-run home run, Lily Knox was 2 for 3 with a solo homer, Ilove’a Brittingham hit a solo homer, and Paityn Lavin pitched a three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts to lead Oaks Christian (9-2, 2-0) to a 5-0 victory over Thousand Oaks (3-6, 0-2) in a Marmonte League game.

  • Mia Gomez went 4 for 6 with a two-run home run and six RBIs, Amaya Del Olmo was 3 for 5 with a three-run homer, Rylee Redmond went 3 for 6 with three RBIs, and Briona Ferdman was 2 for 4 to lead Agoura (6-4, 2-0) to a 16-7 win over Newbury Park in a Marmonte League game. Janessa Gutierrez went 3 for 3 with two homers and three RBIs, Yasmin Topinko was 2 for 3 with a double, homer and two RBIs, and Nikki Kennedy hit a two-run homer for the Panthers (11-2, 0-2).

  • Amanda Baldwin and Sydney Katz each hit a solo homer, Baylee Brown was 2 for 2 with an RBI, Cat Anzalone and Dayna Woodward each went 1 for 1 with two RBIs, Oliva Ziebell-White and Ava Ackourey each went 1 for 2 with an RBI, Penelope Yeomans and Linden McCarl each went 1 for 1 with an RBI, Savannah Branham was 2 for 2, and Presley Waters allowed one hit while striking out four in four scoreless innings to lead Westlake (9-2, 2-0) to a 17-2, five-inning victory over Calabasas in a Marmonte League game.

  • Madison Shay went 3 for 3 with a double, triple and five RBIs, Jordan Gonzalez was 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, Addison Coe went 2 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI, Natalie Pierce was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Sydnee Loyola went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Rylee Segovia was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Olivia Bossoletti pitched three shutout innings, and Divina Miranda pitched two shutout innings to lead Buena (3-7, 1-6) to a 15-0, five-inning win over Santa Barbara in a Channel League game.

  • Baylany Magana pitched a complete game, Natalie Rodarte went 3 for 5 with two RBIs, Layla Mukul was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Jiselle Garcia went 2 for 4 with two RBIs to lead Oxnard (10-3-1, 7-0) to a 10-3 victory over Ventura in a Channel League game. Olivia Marsing went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and Jayla Raya finished 3 for 4 with a double for the Cougars (7-5-1, 4-3).

  • Rosy Salazar struck out 12 in the circle and went 3 for 3 with an RBI at the plate, Cam Kenny was 3 for 3 with two RBIs, Addi Feola went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Grace Maguire was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Ava DePew was 1 for 1 with two RBIs to lead unbeaten Grace Brethren (11-0-1, 3-0) to a 12-2, five-inning win over Bishop Diego in a Tri-Valley League game.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

  • Sinjon Laughton finished with 20 kills and three blocks, Nikko Songco had 11 kills, and Will Nicks had 10 kills and two blocks to lead Oak Park to a 25-20, 20-25, 26-28, 25-21, 15-10 victory over Camarillo in a Coastal Canyon League match.

  • Royal defeated Simi Valley 25-15, 25-17, 25-18 in a Coastal Canyon League match.

  • Theo Souther-Pasquarella had 27 assists, Fletcher Duffey had 15 digs and two aces, Scott Vreeland finished with 16 kills, and Max Mechtenberg contributed seven kills and five digs to lead Ventura to a 25-8, 25-13, 25-18 sweep of Pacifica in a Channel League match.

  • Daniel Shander finished with seven kills and six digs, JF Referente had six kills and six digs, Adael Perez had five kills, two blocks and an ace, and Rhea Moore had four kills for Rio Mesa in its 25-20, 25-22, 25-19 loss to Dos Pueblos in a Channel League match.

  • JP Mawas had 18 assists and Mac Land and Joseph Soltero each had kills for Oxnard (8-10, 3-3) in its 25-15, 25-12, 25-20 loss to San Marcos in a Channel League match.

  • Oaks Christian defeated Moorpark 24-26, 25-18, 25-20, 25-23 in a nonleague match.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

  • Westlake defeated Newbury Park 76-56 in a Marmonte League meet. For Westlake, Ylian Ostojic won the 100 (10.90) and 200 (22.27). Cade Sommers won the long jump (20-09.75) and pole vault (15-09). Michael Kaiman won the high jump (5-10). Lawson Grace won the shot put (46-09) and discus (144-05). For Newbury Park, Brandon Guevara won the 1,600 (4:35.71). Jack Tarascio won the 110 hurdles (17.62). Jack Watson won the 400 (52.13) and 800 (2:06.92). John Leon won the 300 hurdles (49.24). Nathan Porter won the 3,200 (10:54.64). Owen Kurzeja won the triple jump (36-10.75).

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

  • Newbury Park defeated Westlake 72-61 in a Marmonte League meet. For Newbury Park, Abigail Pace won the 100 hurdles (15.39) and 200 (26.54). Olivia Healy won the 400 (67.40) and high jump (5-0). Danielle Brotcke won the 800 (2:27.17). Giselle Gonzalez won the 3,200 (12:16.74). Brooklyn Batty won the pole vault (10-06). Lily Cohen won the shot put (32-07) and discus (107-03). For Westlake, Rae Rae Castagna won the 1,600 (5:28.87). Amanda Eames won the 100 (12.52) and long jump (16-05). Claudia Turner won the 300 hurdles (48.15). Brooke Beck won the triple jump (33-11.75).

BOYS LACROSSE

  • Grey Stevens finished with eight goals and three assists, Colton Winsick had two goals and seven assists, and Liam Newman added two goals and two assists to lead Oak Park to a 16-2 win over Royal in a Coastal Canyon League game.

BOYS GOLF

  • Tristan Shaw was the medalist with a 78 and Raj Hundal and Evan Molina each shot a 79 to lead Camarillo (4-2, 3-0) to a 403-481 win over Moorpark in a Coastal Canyon League match at par-72 Moorpark Country Club. Kemper Wilson shot an 80 for the Musketeers (0-4, 0-2).

BOYS TENNIS

  • Karthik Tholudur and Jason Kiang swept their doubles sets to lead Newbury Park to a 13-5 victory over Oaks Christian in a Marmonte League match.

  • Oak Park defeated Camarillo 13-5 to improve to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the Coastal Canyon League.

  • Charlie Powers and James Sokoloski each swept their singles sets to lead Foothill Tech to a 14-4 win over Villanova Prep in Tri-Valley League match.
