In boys' basketball

Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 64, Oakwood 53. Keison Peoples scored 25 points and Chaz Dubois added 18 points to lift the Blue Devils (8-2) past the host Comets (8-3) in a key Vermilion Valley Conference matchup. Oakwood was led by 17 points from Alec Harrison and 16 points from Jackson Dudley.

Centennial 70, Rantoul 34. The host Chargers (6-2) dispatched the Eagles (1-7) in nonconfernece play thanks to 24 points from Jadin Schilb and nine points from Gavin Taylor, while Rantoul's offensive output was paced by a 14-point performance from Holden Cargo.

Deer Creek-Mackinaw 50, LeRoy 39. Seventeen points from Sam Edmundson and eight points from Braden Loy weren't enough to key the host Panthers (5-5) to a Heart of Illinois Conference win.

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 37, Paxton-Buckley-Loda 33. Easton Stroh's 11-point effort helped the Falcons (6-1) claim a road win over the Panthers (2-6) in nonconference play, with Tyler Cole's 10-point contribution topping the scoresheet for PBL.

Hoopeston Area 54, Westville 37. Trenton Montez scored 21 points while Owen Root and Kendrick Sigerill recorded double-doubles with 11 points apiece and 21 combined rebounds as the Cornjerkers (8-3) dispatched the Tigers (5-1) in VVC play.

Mahomet-Seymour 66, Taylorville 18. Seventeen points from Landyn Hannah and 13 points from Wyatt Bohm helped the Bulldogs (5-4) to an easy Apollo Conference win on their home floor.

Milford 65, Georgetown/Ridge Farm 28. Gavin Schunke scored 24 points and Beau Wright added 18 points to lead the host Bearcats (3-4) in a VVC win over the Buffaloes (2-6) despite JJ Hall's 10 points.

Monticello 42, Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 10. Ike Young scored nine points to lead all scorers as Ryan Wallen and Jack Weidner added six points apiece to motor the Sages (3-4) to a nonconference home win. Monticello's defense yielded just two points in the first half — a Sievers Center record — with Marcus Otto's four-point night leading the Knights (0-8).

Paris 60, Tri-County 52. Despite a 16-point outing from Garrett Pollock and a 13-point contribution from Caden Logan, the Titans (2-6) met defeat in a nonconference contest on the road.

St. Joseph-Ogden 66, Danville 55. Tanner Jacob scored 15 points, Logan Smith added 14 points and secured eight rebounds and Tanner Siems scored 10 points in a nonconference road win for the Spartans (7-0) over the Vikings. Danville (3-5) was led by Jerry Reed's 10-point night while CL Dye pitched in eight points.

St. Thomas More 62, Fisher 43. Peace Bumba's 22-point effort — which included eight points in the third quarter — led 12-point outings from Wilson Kirby and Owen Yeager as the Sabers (6-2) picked up a nonconference win over the visiting Bunnies. Ryan Hopkins scored 18 points to lead all scorers for Fisher (3-7).

Tuscola 78, Heritage 14. Caiden Russo approached a double-double with 12 points and seven rebounds while Sawyer Woodard added 11 points and Kam Sweetnam scored 10 points to lead 12 scorers for the Warriors (8-0). The visiting Hawks (2-7) were keyed by eight points from Rylan White in the nonconference setback.

Unity 55, Champaign Central 46. Eighteen points from Eric Meibach, nine points from Henry Thomas and eight points from Brayden Henry were enough to lift the Rockets (6-0) past the Maroons (6-5) at Combes Gym despite 11 points from Axel Baldwin and nine points from Chris Bush.

Urbana 83, Sacred Heart-Griffin 71. The host Tigers (1-4) claimed their first win of the season against the Cyclones in a nonconference contest thanks to 26 points from Malcolm Morris, 14 points from Jaylen McElmurray, 12 points from Marcus Jackson and 11 points from Jesse Mfwamba.

Watseka 62, Iroquois West 36. Evan LaBelle went off for 18 points, Myles Lynch added 11 points and Hagen Hoy scored 10 points to lift the Warriors (4-5) to victory in Vermilion Valley Conference play. The host Raiders (3-6) were led by 11 points from Damian Alvarado, nine points from Kobie Hendershot and six points from Tyler Read.

In girls' basketball

Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 38, Monticello 29. Claire Seal poured in 22 points and Morgan Casteel added eight points to power the Knights (6-5) to a road victory over the Sages (3-7) in nonconference play. Maia High paced Monticello with 10 points, but the Sages couldn't overcome the Knights' 13-3 scoring advantage in the second quarter.

Champaign Central 58, Rantoul 30. Khalia Williams' 14-point, 11-rebound double-double also included five steals, with Alex Parastaran adding nine points, seven steals and four assists in a comfortable nonconference win over the host Eagles. Amina Robinson, Samara McArthur and Grace Bandy each scored eight points for the Maroons (6-7) while by Josie Roseman's 14-point contribution led the way for the Eagles (1-9).

Salt Fork 57, Villa Grove 19. Alexa Jamison powered the host Storm (7-3) with 26 points and Macie Russell added 12 points in a nonconference home win over the Blue Devils (1-5), who were keyed by Jobella Crafton's 11-point outing.

Urbana 40, Uni High 23. Madison Shade produced 14 points and Savannah Blanden added 10 points to guide the Tigers (1-9) to a crosstown victory over the host Illineks (3-7), who were led by Chizara Onyemere's 13-point, six-rebound performance.

Watseka 49, Centennial 36. Ava Swartz's 14-point showing and 12 points and six rebounds from Megan Martin helped the host Warriors (11-1) earn a nonconference win over the Chargers (0-7), who were paced by Dariah Horton's game-high 17 points and 16 points from Aleah Emers.

In wrestling

At Fairbury. LeRoy stormed into Fairbury and returned with a 64-3 victory over Prairie Central thanks to pins from Brady Mouser (113 pounds), EJ Chaon (120), Jimmy Chaon (126), Connor McLaughlin (150), Bo Zeleznik (157) and Gannon Pinkerton (175). Kobe Brent (132) and Ayden Mackey (144) earned wins via decision.

At Warrensburg. St. Joseph-Ogden claimed a 72-6 win over Riverton and a 54-26 win over host Warrensburg-Latham on Tuesday, with the latter dual including wins from Jackson Walsh (113), Holden Brazelton (132), Brandon Goodwin (144), Logan Xiao (150), Coy Hayes (157), Devan Swisher (165), Barron James (175), Khaden Hallowell (190) and Quincy Jones (215).

In boys' swimming and diving

At Bloomington. Centennial earned an 88-58 win over Bloomington thanks to individual wins from Tyler Oatman (50 yard freestyle, 24.01 and 100 freestyle, 52.72) Evan Piercy (200 yard individual medley, 2:25.49), James Reynolds (500 freestyle, 5:42.97), Louis Tran (100 backstroke, 1:10.25) and Nathan Piercy (100 backstroke, 1:21.43).

At Champaign. Host Champaign Central scored 147 points and utilized wins from Jackson Dillow (200 IM, 2:23.92 and 1-meter diving 79.65), Titus Lee (50 freestyle, 25.57) and Thomas Costello (500 freestyle, 5:57.58) to best Mahomet-Seymour (102) and Danville (22). Owen Kearns (50 backstroke, 57.74 and 100 butterfly, 55.55) and Aron Varga (100 breastroke, 1:03.68) earned wins for Mahomet-Seymour, while Andrew Faulkner (100 freestyle, 50.76 and 200 freestyle, 1:49.34) was a winner for Danville.
