Here are Tuesday's high school sports results for the Appleton area

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Fox Valley Association Tournament

FOND DU LAC - Appleton North went 5-0 to win the season-opening tournament, defeating Kimberly 25-8, 25-22 in the championship match.

In pool play, the Lightning beat Kaukauna 25-15, 25-22; Hortonville 25-13, 25-19; Appleton East 25-12, 25-17; and Oshkosh North 25-5, 25-12.

“We have new faces playing new positions and I thought our girls played really well,” Appleton North coach Steve Schuerell said. “We served tough and were scrappy all day. Great way to start the season.”

Teegan Charapata had 24 kills, 24 digs and 11 aces for North. Emerson Van Lannen had 81 assists, 25 digs and 18 kills. Lydia Koshuta had 10 aces, 11 assists and 14 digs.

Maggie Hahnke added 11 aces and 17 digs, Kayden Lamon had 10 kills and six blocks, and Ella Demetrician had 55 kills and 29 digs for the Lightning.

Kimberly was led Ava Van Vonderen with 109 kills. Ava Reis had 98 kills. Ava Van Camp had 61 digs, while Ava Van Hammond had 74 assists.

Battle of the Valley

TOWN OF HARRISON - Xavier went 4-0 in the tournament, defeating Randolph 25-12, 25-15; Oconto Falls 25-19, 25-12; Fox Valley Lutheran 25-18, 25-11; and Howards Grove 25-20, 25-17.

Mariah Potter led Xavier with 67 assists. She also had 12 digs. Belle Shea had 23 digs, Halle Vande Hey had 26 kills, Annika Kowalski had 13 kills, Olivia Neumann had 13 kills, and Madison Daley had 22 kills and 16 digs.

Fox Valley Lutheran went 3-1 to take second place.

The Foxes defeated Howards Grove 2-0, defeated Oconto Falls 2-0, lost to Xavier 0-2 and defeated Randolph 2-0.

Annalise Patchett had 23 kills and 29 digs for Fox Valley Lutheran. Ava Patchett had 34 assists and 13 digs. Molly Bixby had 32 assists and 12 digs. Riley Schmitz contributed 38 digs, Keira Jahner had 15 digs and Emma Nilson notched 25 kills.

Wrightstown went 3-1 and finished first in Pool B, defeating Chilton 25-23, 25-23; losing to Ashwaubenon 25-23, 19-25, 9-15; beating Little Chute 21-25, 25-18, 15-8; and beating New Holstein 25-19, 25-13.

BOYS SOCCER

Appleton East 5, Menasha 0

MENASHA - The Patriots turned in a strong second half, outscoring the Bluejays 5-0 in the win.

Sevie Koss and Alexis Vera both scored twice for Appleton East. Isaac Goerlitz also had a goal.

James Lagrow, Max Ransom, Royal Swick and Noah Thao each had an assist for Appleton East.

Henry Benz had five saves in goal for the Patriots.

Hortonville 1, Pulaski 0

HORTONVILLE - Dylan Glad scored on a penalty kick in the second half to lead the Polar Bears to the victory in the season opener for both teams.

Nathan Bolling made three saves in goal for Hortonville. Josh Roth had three saves for Pulaski.

Green Bay Preble 3, Kimberly 1

KIMBERLY - Johnny Mendez scored twice and Abraham Navarro had a goal and an assist in the Hornets’ win over the Papermakers.

Liam Paradiso scored Kimberly’s goal in the fourth minute with Braylon Hemmersbach getting the assist.

Jack Thorpe had five saves for Green Bay Preble. Noah Sommer had 13 saves for Kimberly.

Luxemburg-Casco 3, Winneconne 0

LUXEMBURG - Johan Amador had two goals and Ethan Vandenhouten had two assists for the Spartans in the nonconference win.

Zak Patek also scored a goal for Luxemburg-Casco.

Spartans goalie Quentin Massart made three saves. Winneconne goalie Malik Jenns had two saves.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Neenah 3, Oak Creek 2

NEENAH - The Rockets defeated Oak Creek 28-26, 24-26, 25-8, 17-25, 15-9 in a nonconference contest.

Miles Weaver led Neenah with 14 kills and 15 digs. Julian Kuehn had 11 kills and 12 digs. Cam Diekfuss had 34 assists, and Trevor Ricketts had six kills and five blocks.

“It was a great start at opening up at our new high school,” Neenah coach Jake Coenen said. “The first win in the new gymnasium was something special for our team and I was pleased with how we grew as the match went on.”
