Tuck Gregory wins state diving; Packers take top three places

Feb. 7—MOULTRIE — Colquitt County junior Tuck Gregory won his first Georgia High School Association diving title in the state's highest classification and the Packers had the top three finishers in the state championships held Tuesday at the Westminster Schools in Atlanta.

Colquitt also had three of the top six finishers in the girls event, including two-time defending state champion Ruth Anne McCranie, who came in second behind Brookwood's Chloe Brothers.

Two-time defending state champion and University of Georgia-committed Bo Bridges was second in the boys event and Tuck's brother Trip was third.

Colquitt County freshman Judson Taylor was seventh.

Tuck Gregory's performance gave Colquitt County its fifth-straight boys championship.

Bridges won in 2023 and 2022 and Carson Tyler claimed the championship in 2020 and 2021.

Tyler's 2021 score of 878.95 is still the state record.

Colquitt County boys and girls divers have now won a combined 53 GHSA state championships.

Tuck, a junior, was the runner-up behind Bridges last year and finished third in 2022.

His 738.50 on Tuesday got him the win over Colquitt County and Moss Farms Diving teammate Bridges, who turned in a 723.65 in his final high school state championship competition.

Trip Gregory, also a junior, scored a 671.60.

Taylor qualified for finals and scored a 462.40, good for seventh place in his first state meet.

McCranie, like Bridges, came up just short of a state championship "three-peat" in the girls competition.

Brothers scored a 653.60 to win the girls title with McCranie, who has committed to dive at Purdue, right behind with a 615.30.

Both are seniors.

Colquitt County sophomores Jewel Hart and Maggie Strange finished fifth and sixth respectively.

Hart scored a 537.60; Strange, a 536.10.

Freshman Kendall Deloach did not qualify for finals, but her 242.95 placed 10th.
