Tua Tagovailoa re-enters NFL’s concussion protocol, status vs. Patriots unknown

For the second time this season, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has entered the league’s concussions protocol, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Tagovailoa suffered multiple scary injuries against the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals earlier in the year that made headlines and resulted in changes to the protocol.

It’s not exactly known what hit against the Green Bay Packers landed the former first-round pick in the protocol, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter did share a clip of the quarterback hitting his head off of the ground in the second quarter.

With Tagovailoa in the protocol, it’s unclear who will be under center against the New England Patriots this weekend. If he can’t go, the team will hand the reins over to Teddy Bridgewater.

Head coach Mike McDaniel said in his Monday media availability that Tagovailoa is experiencing symptoms, and that it’s too early to name a starter.
