TSU's Aristocrat of Bands salutes Memphis, Young Dolph at Southern Heritage Classic

The signature halftime show at the Southern Heritage Classic had a little more Memphis flavor than usual this year thanks to Tennessee State's Aristocrat of Bands.

The TSU marching band used a portion of its performance to salute both the city of Memphis and slain Memphis rapper Young Dolph.

The Aristocrat of Bands had two different formations involving Memphis.

It first spelled out "901," a reference to the area code in the Memphis area, to celebrate the game's host in the midst of a tragic week of violence that generated considerable national attention.

They later spelled out "Dolph" on the Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium field, in recognition of the rapper who was murdered last November outside of Makeda's Homemade Cookies old Airways Boulevard.
