‘Try to get past me’: Oklahoma center Andrew Raym feels healthier than ever

The Oklahoma Sooners are nine days away from the start of the 2023 College Football Season. The anticipation and anxiety are rising as each day passes as we wait for the announcer to say, “It’s football time in Oklahoma!”

The Sooners have a lot to prove this season. That’s obvious. Brent Venables has to prove the doubters wrong as well.

One strong suit of this team for years has been the offensive line. This year isn’t expected to be any different. But the offensive line will have three new full-time starters this season. One of the returning starters is Andrew Raym.

He told reporters, while the offensive line has a lot of new faces, the overall chemistry has been good.

“I’ve been here for four years, and this is the closest line I’ve ever been a part of,” Raym said. “All 10-15 of us are hanging out together every week. We’re hanging out outside of the facility together. We can get onto each other and tell each other the truth, and we take it right.”

Raym is the longest-tenured starter at Oklahoma. He has started the last two seasons. In 2020, he played a lot as well. But Raym is returning from an injury that sidelined him at the end of last season.

“I feel like this is the best camp I’ve had,” Raym said. “I’m as healthy as ever. Technique is better than ever. Try to get past me.”

That’s the kind of mentality this offensive line needs to have this year. There are some who believe it could be the best line Oklahoma has had since 2018, when they won the Joe Moore Award for the nation’s best offensive line.

Not saying they will win that award this season, but that’s big praise for this team. Just like the last few years, a group will be relied upon to take this offense to another level.
