Troy baseball versus Boston College delayed due to weather in NCAA Tournament

TUSCALOOSA - Troy's baseball matchup with Boston College has entered a weather delay at Sewell-Thomas Stadium on Friday.

The tarp was taken off the field at 3:28 p.m. CT but the infield looks to need some work before a restart can happen. A new start time of 5:05 p.m. was announced, as the ground crew needs more time to work on the field. Originally the game was slated to restart at 4:05 p.m. but both coaches agreed the field was not playable.

The game was delayed in the bottom of the second inning right after Boston College tied the game with a two-RBI homerun. Peter Burns, the Eagles catcher was up to bat with a 0-0 count.

The game entered a delay at 2:48 p.m. due to weather in the area. While the delay was for rain, if there is any lightning strike within eight miles of Sewell-Thomas Stadium, the 30-minute clock will have to start.

The teams left the dugout and fans were asked to leave the stands and find a safe place to shelter at their own risk.
