Trevor Lawrence: ‘I’m looking forward to rattling off some wins’
A trip to the playoffs is the longest of long shots for the 3-7 Jacksonville Jaguars, but second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence isn’t lacking for confidence.
After finishing with a passer rating above 100 in the Jaguars’ last two games before a Week 11 bye, Lawrence told Ashlyn Sullivan of Jaguars.com that he’s feeling really good about the remainder of the season.
“This is probably the best I’ve felt in my career,” Lawrence said. “I’ve felt like this, at times, in the past, but I feel like consistently I’m starting to put it together more and more. And that’s the idea, right? I think the more I can do that — obviously your quarterback has to play good for you to win. So I’m looking forward to rattling off some wins to finish this season.”
The Jaguars will have to win at least six of their last seven games to finish the year with a winning record. And even that might not be enough to catch up to the 7-3 Tennessee Titans.
What’s probably even more important for Jacksonville is seeing more signs that Lawrence is on an upward trajectory. After finishing his rookie season with 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions, Lawrence has thrown 13 touchdowns with six interceptions so far in year two.
Continuing to stack up strong performances could be tough, though, as the Jaguars finish the season against a tough slate of opponents including games against the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, and New York Jets, as well as two games against the Titans. All four of those teams have 6-3 records and are above the league average in points allowed.
