Trevor Lawrence jumps to No.4 in CBS Sports Week 2 QB power rankings

Former Clemson National Championship-winning quarterback Trevor Lawrence started year three in the NFL with a strong performance, leading the Jacksonville Jaguars to a 31-21 win over the Indianapolis Colts

In the season opener, Lawrence completed 24 of 32 passes for 241 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He added 21 yards on the ground as the Jaguars kicked off their season on a strong note.

With the strong performance, it looks like another year where the young quarterback takes the next step. CBS Sports recently released their quarterback power rankings for Week 2, with Lawrence moving up two spots to number four.

The Jaguars got lots of preseason hype, and Lawrence delivered against the Colts, feeding picture-perfect throws to Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones in key spots. He could easily be the NFL’s smoothest pocket passer this side of Burrow.

The addition of star wide receiver Calvin Ridley did wonders for Lawrence in Week 1. This duo should be in for a huge season together, with the former Clemson quarterback having multiple other reliable targets in Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, Evan Engram, and former Tigers running back Travis Etienne.

Watching Lawrence, you will always have a few moments of amazement. His arm strength is top-tier, and his precision makes him one of the most dangerous passers in the league.

Writer Cody Benjamin mentions Lawrence possibly competing with Joe Burrow for the NFL’s smoothest pocket passer, which is high praise. What Lawrence has that Burrow doesn’t is mobility.

Lawrence is a complete quarterback who is on the rise.
