Travis Kelce: Browns and Chiefs are definitely ‘neck and neck’

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce was in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio over the weekend attending Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry’s annual charity softball match. Kelce has long supported Landry’s celebrity softball game, last attending in 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

When speaking to the Cleveland media, Kelce shared his thoughts about the Browns, who went to the playoffs for the first time since 2002 last season. Unfortunately for Cleveland, they ran into Kansas City in the playoffs and were defeated despite Patrick Mahomes suffering a concussion during the game. Still, Kelce is optimistic that this Browns team remains on the up and up. He even believes that they can contend with the Chiefs.

“I would say they’re definitely a contender, without a doubt,” Kelce said of the Browns. “It’s definitely there. Baker (Mayfield) and the gang have upped the ante, made this team an unbelievable team and a team you have to prepare for and take serious. I think that, moving forward, without a doubt I could see a lot more playoff games between us and I’ll just take it one day at a time and hope for it. But I think that the Browns and Chiefs are definitely neck and neck, for sure.

Kelce is also looking forward to kicking off the 2021 NFL season, facing the Browns. It’ll be a playoff rematch, but anytime the Chiefs play the Browns, the game is personal for Kelce.

“What better way to play than to start out against my hometown team,” Kelce added. “The team that I’ve watched since I was a little kid and that I’ve cheered for my entire life.”

Despite the hometown allegiance to the Browns, Kelce is all business when he hits the football field for the Chiefs.

“You know how it goes,” Kelce concluded. “I’m a Chief right now and good luck to all the Brownies out there.”
