Travis Hunter named preseason first-team All-American by Athlon Sports

Another day for the Buffaloes and more news is coming out of Colorado, but this time it’s having to do with a current player rather than a potential future one.

Cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter was named a preseason All-American by Athlon Sports, the distinction coming as an all-purpose player on the first-team offense.

After being rated as the No. 1 overall high school recruit in the class of 2022, Hunter had a productive freshman season with current Buffs head coach Deion Sanders at Jackson State. He had two interceptions and eight passes defended as a cornerback while catching 18 passes for 190 yards and four touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball.

For all the hype surrounding the Buffs coming into the 2023 season, Hunter is probably the top player responsible for that, along with presumptive starting QB Shedeur Sanders, who played with Hunter at Jackson State.

Time will tell if Hunter can make a comfortable transition to the Pac-12, but given his top recruit standing and his time at Jackson State, he certainly has the ability to live up to the All-American billing.
