Tracking LSU football's awards in 2023

BATON ROUGE — LSU football enters the 2023 season with high expectations.

The Tigers in coach Brian Kelly's second year bring back multiple key contributors — including starting quarterback Jayden Daniels, wide receiver Malik Nabers and linebacker Harold Perkins — to a roster that defeated Alabama and won the SEC West in Kelly's first season in charge.

With those high expectations and talent on its roster come plenty of awards, only heightening the stakes around the Tigers' pursuit of their first national championship under Kelly.

Here's the full list of awards handed out to the Tigers this season.

Josh Williams named a semifinalist for the Jason Witten Man of the Year Award

LSU running back Josh Williams has been named as a semifinalist for the Jason Witten Man of the Year Award.

The honor is handed to the college football player who displays commendable leadership skills for his team on and off the field.

Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers selected as AP midseason All-Americans

Daniels and Malik Nabers have been selected as AP midseason All-Americans. Nabers was selected as a first team All-American while Daniels was a second team selection.

Daniels leads all of college football in total yards and yards per game. On the other hand, Nabers leads the country in total receiving yards and receiving yards per game.

LSU's offensive line makes midseason honor roll for the Joe Moore Award

LSU's offensive line has been named to the midseason honor roll for the Joe Moore Award, given annually to the top offensive line unit in the nation.

LSU's line has allowed just seven sacks and 53 quarterback pressures through seven games this season, according to Pro Football Focus.

Charles Turner named Outland Trophy National Player of the Week

LSU center Charles Turner has been named the Outland Trophy National Player of the Week, despite having to sit out the second half of the Tigers' matchup last week against Missouri after hyperextending his knee.

Jayden Daniels wins SEC Offensive Player of the Week for a second consecutive week

After sharing the SEC Offensive Player of the Week award with Nabers last week, Daniels won the award for a second consecutive week after LSU's explosive second-half performance against Arkansas in Week 4.

Daniels threw for 320 yards and four touchdowns in LSU's victory.

Jayden Daniels wins Manning Award Quarterback of the Week

Daniels has won the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week following his explosive performance in Week 3 against Mississippi State.

The second-year starter at LSU completed 88.2% of his passes for 361 yards and scored four total touchdowns in the Tigers' 41-14 rout over the Bulldogs.

Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers named SEC Co-Offensive Players of the Week

Daniels and Nabers have been named SEC Co-Offensive Players of the Week following the duo's explosive performance against Mississippi State in Week 3.

Daniels completed his first 13 passes, including 23 of his opening 24 throws. He finished the game with four total touchdowns and 361 passing yards.

Nabers had 13 catches for 239 yards, breaking his single-game career-high in receiving yards before the end of the first half.

Mekhi Wingo named to Allstate AFCA Good Works team

LSU defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo has been named as one of the 11 FBS players to make the 2023 Allstate AFCA Good Works team.

The Allstate AFCA Good Works team was created in 1992 to recognize college football players' efforts in their communities.

Javien Toviano makes Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award watchlist

LSU defensive back Javien Toviano has made the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award watchlist. Toviano was the only Tiger to make the award watchlist.

Toviano was a four-star recruit and the No. 57 prospect in the nation in the Class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite. He is expected to be an important bench piece for LSU's secondary this season.

Eleven LSU players make Preseason Coaches All-SEC teams

Daniels, Nabers, Will Campbell, Mason Taylor, Emery Jones, Wingo, Maason Smith, Harold Perkins, Greg Brooks Jr., Nathan Dibert and Slade Roy have been selected for Preseason Coaches All-SEC teams.

Daniels, Nabers, Campbell, Wingo, Smith and Perkins were first team selections, while Taylor, Jones and Dibert made second team and Roy and Brooks cracked the third team.

Harold Perkins, Malik Nabers and Mekhi Wingo crack AP preseason All-American teams

Perkins made first team and Nabers and Wingo have been announced as second-team AP preseason All-Americans.

Wingo cracked the AP All-American third team last season, while Perkins and Nabers come into this season as arguably top-5 players in the country at their respective positions.

Mekhi Wingo and Harold Perkins picked for The Lombardi Trophy preseason watchlist

Wingo and Perkins have made The Lombardi Trophy preseason watchlist, an award handed annually to the best lineman in college football.

Wingo was a third team AP All-American last season while Perkins led the SEC in forced fumbles a year ago.

Jayden Daniels lands on the Manning Award preseason watchlist

Daniels has made the Manning Award preseason watchlist. The Manning Award is handed annually to the most outstanding quarterback in college football.

Daniels posted a career-high 68.6% completion percentage with 885 rushing yards a year ago.

Harold Perkins makes Chuck Bednarik Award preseason watchlist

Perkins has cracked the Chuck Bednarik Award preseason watchlist after recoridng 7.5 sacks and 13 tackels for loss last season.

The Chuck Bednarik Award is handed annually to the defensive player of the year in college football.

Jayden Daniels and Harold Perkins crack the Walter Camp Award preseason watchlist

Daniels and Perkins have made the Walter Camp Award preseason watchlist. Daniels enters this season as a fifth-year starting quarterback while Perkins tries to build off of his 7.5 sack campaign last season as a freshman.

The Walter Camp Award is handed annually to the most outstanding player in the nation.

Harold Perkins and Omar Speights named to Butkus Award preseason watchlist

Perkins and Omar Speights have been named to the Butkus Award preseason watchlist which is handed annually to the top linebacker in the nation.

Perkins broke out with 7.5 sacks and 72 tackles last season as a freshman. Speights transferred from Oregon State to LSU this past offseason and recorded more than 80 total tackles in each of the last two seasons.

Josh Williams and Noah Cain crack Doak Walker Award preseason watchlist

Noah Cain and Williams have been named to the Doak Walker Award preseason watchlist. The Doak Walker Award is handed annually to the top running back in college football.

Cain had 10 touchdowns in his first season with the Tigers a year ago. Williams led LSU in rushing yards last year with 532.

Jayden Daniels named to Davey O'Brien Award preseason watchlist

Daniels has made the Davey O'Brien Award preseason watchlist. The award is handed annually to the top quarterback in college football.

Daniels completed 68.6% of his passes for 2,913 yards and 17 touchdowns in his first season with the Tigers in 2022.

Malik Nabers selected for the Biletnikoff Award preseason watchlist

Nabers has been named to the Biletnikoff Award preseason watchlist. The Biletnikoff Award is handed annually to the most outstanding wideout in the nation.

Nabers recorded 72 catches for 1,017 yards last season for the Tigers.

Slade Roy cracks Patrick Mannely Award preseason watchlist

Slade Roy has been named to the Patrick Mannely Award preseason watchlist. Roy was one of the few highlights during a season filled with lowlights for LSU's special teams unit.

The Patrick Mannely Award is given annually to the top long snapper in college football.

Mason Taylor makes John Mackey Award preseason watchlist

Taylor has made the John Mackey Award preseason watchlist. Taylor had 414 receiving yards, 38 receptions and was an All-SEC Freshman team selection last season.

The John Mackey Award is handed out annually to the most outstanding tight end in college football.

Josh Williams selected for Wuerrfel Trophy preseason watchlist

Josh Williams was named to the Wuerffel Trophy preseason watchlist on the first day of preseason practices on Thursday. The Wuerffel Trophy is annually handed out to "college football’s most impactful leaders in community service," according to its website.

Jay Bramblett named to Ray Guy Award preseason watchlist

Jay Bramblett has been named to the Ray Guy Award preseason watchlist. Bramblett averaged 44.5 yards per punt in his first season with the Tigers last year.

The Ray Guy Award is handed out annually to the best punter in the FBS.

Mekhi Wingo, Will Campbell and Emery Jones land on Outland Trophy preseason watchlist

Wingo, Campbell and Jones have made the Outland Trophy preseason watchlist. The Outland Trophy is handed annually to the best lineman on offense and defense.

Campbell and Jones return as second-year starters on LSU's offensive line after shining as freshmen a year ago. Wingo, meanwhile, became a staple for the Tigers' defensive line after transferring in from Missouri.

Harold Perkins and Mekhi Wingo make Bronko Nagurski Trophy preseason watchlist

Perkins and Wingo have been selected for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy preseason watchlist, LSU announced. Perkins enters his sophomore season after recording 7.5 sacks and 72 tackles a year ago, while Wingo makes the watchlist after becoming a third team AP All-American a year ago.

The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is given annually to the best defensive player in college football.

Malik Nabers and Jayden Daniels crack the Maxwell Award preseason watchlist

Nabers and Daniels have been named to the Maxwell Award preseason watchlist, LSU announced. Nabers cracks the list after garnering more than 1,000 receiving yards a season ago, while Daniels was named following a season in which he completed a career-high 68.6% of his pass attempts.

The Maxwell Award is handed out annually to the best player in college football.
