'Toxic environment': New report sheds more light on Urban Meyer's disastrous tenure in Jacksonville

Months after his brief NFL tenure ended, Urban Meyer's bingo board of disasters had another number called out Monday morning in a story that highlighted the "toxic environment" cultivated by the much-maligned coach.

The Athletic reported that Meyer, who was fired by the Jacksonville Jaguars in December after 14 games and several embarrassing incidents, was seemingly unaware of the league's star players, including Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald and San Francisco 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel.

“Who’s this 99 guy on the Rams?” Meyer apparently asked one staffer during the season, an unidentified source told The Athletic. “I’m hearing he might be a problem for us.”

Meyer had to apologize to his team in October after he stayed in Ohio following a Thursday night loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. A viral video showed a woman dancing on him that weekend at a Columbus, Ohio restaurant he owns.

In December, after the Tampa Bay Times reported Meyer kicked kicker Josh Lambo prior to a preseason game, the Jaguars finally decided the professional experiment with the three-time national champion coach.
