Woodward Travelers players felt the sting of Haden Fiddler’s bat in the first game of a 19-and-U baseball game Tuesday held on the Putnam City High School diamond.

Fiddler and his Bartlesville Doenges Ford Indian teammates knocked off the Travelers, 5-3, to extend their winning streak to four straight.

But, in an odd nightcap, Woodward clawed ahead 5-0 and the game was ended in bottom of the fifth before the Indians could unhitch their offense.

The doubleheader split but the Indians’ record at 5-2 — and 2-2 on the road.

Next up, the Indians compete this weekend in the Mountain Home tourney in Arkansas.

Their next home game is June 21 against traditional summer rival Three Rivers.

Following are summaries of Tuesday’s games.

WOODWARD 5, INDIANS 0

In the nightcap the Indians managed just two singles, one each by Brenden Asher and Dawson Morey. Kaleb Bashford also reached base via a walk.

Bartlesville grounded into a double-play and left two runners stranded.

Woodward, meanwhile, scored twice in the second inning and three times in the third.

Fiddler suffered the pitching loss even though he struck out four batters in three innings. Four of Woodward’s runs were earned.

Nik Johnson tossed a scoreless inning to round out Indian pitching.

Both Indian losses have been by shutouts.

INDIANS 5, WOODWARD 3

After falling behind 3-0 for the third time this season, the Indians mounted another winning rally, just as they had on the two previous occasions.

Fiddler proved to be the combustible catalyst that inflamed Bartlesville’s comeback in this game.

The Caney Valley High graduate smacked a three-run triple to knot the score, 3-3, in the bottom of the fourth.

He also singled and scored a run.

Kaeden Young added a double and scored a run, while Morey, Asher and Kael Siemers each added two singles. Morey and Siemers drove in one run apiece.

Bashford, Harrison Clark, Fiddler and Siemers each stole a base.

Matt Winters started on the bump for the Indians and worked two innings. He gave up one run and struck out three.

Bashford and Cole Hancock threw two and three innings, respectively. Hancock mowed down five batters by strikeouts and earned the win.

In the bottom of the fourth, Fiddler launched his three-bagger to drive home Siemers, Bashford and Young.

An inning later, Siemers plated Johnson, with a single, for what would be the winning run.
