Top three teams and 25 individuals secure spots in state meet on Saturday, Oct. 21

WEBSTER — Payton Brown of Milbank and Clark-Willow Lake's girls and Milbank's boys each repeated as champions in the Region 1A cross country meet on Wednesday at the Webster Golf Course.

Brown won the boys' race with a time of 16 minutes and 36.04 seconds. The Bulldogs cruised to the team title for the fourth-straight year.

In the girls division, Clark-Willow Lake slipped past Milbank 25-30 to repeat as the team champion. Ashlynn Batchelor of Milbank won the race (19:12.6) for the third time in four years.

The top three teams and 20 individuals in each division qualify for the state meet on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls. The Class A boys' race is set for 1 p.m. and the A girls' race for 2:30 p.m.

Some of the six area region meets held on Wednesday were pushed up from Thursday due to the weather forecast.

SIOUX FALLS — Isabelle Bloker of Sioux Valley and Sioux Falls Christian's boys and girls each continued winning streaks in the Region 2A meet at Yankton Trail Park.

Bloker won the girls' 5,000-meter run in 17:56.8. Levi Vandeer Leest of SF Christian won the boys' 5,000 in 16:02.1.

Christian swept the team titles in the meet for at least the fifth-straight year.

Region 4A

CHAMBERLAIN — Pierce Baumberger and Miller's boys, along with Chamberlain girls, defending their titles Wednesday in the Region 4A meet at the Chamberlain Country Club.

Baumberger won the boys' 5,000 in 16:44 for the second-straight year and helped the Rustlers repeat as team champion.

Kinsey Evans won the girls' 5,000 in 19:09 and helped Chamberlain win the girls division for at least the fourth-straight year.

WEBSTER — Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern won the girls' 5,000-meter run for the third-straight year and Frederick Area repeated as the girls division team champion in the Region 1B meet Wednesday at the Webster Golf Course.

Boekleheide (19:24.94) won the girls' 5,000 and Nathan Melius of Northwestern (17:46.15) the boys' 5,000.

Melius led Northwestern's boys to the team title.

LAKE POINSETT — Arlington's teams and Chester Area's Emery Larson repeated as champions in the Region 2B meet on Wednesday at the Lake Region Golf Course.

Larson took the girls' 5,000 in 18:32.22 and Caden Schwader of Howard the boys' 5,000 in 17:52.22.

Arlington's boys and girls swept the team titles for the third consecutive year.

The top three teams and 20 individuals in each division qualify for the state meet on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls. The Class B boys' race is set for 12:30 p.m. and the B girls' race for 2 p.m.

GETTYSBURG — Potter County's Dannika Kaup and Nicholas Schlachter again won individual races and PC's girls and Highmore-Harrold's boys defended team titles in the Region 4B meet on Wednesday at the Gettysburg Country Club.

Kaup defended her girls division title in 19:12.6 and Schlachter the boys division title in 16:39.7.

Potter County won the girls division for the third-straight year and Highmore-Harrold repeated in the boys division.
