Top Shreveport-Bossier high football games in Week 11 — and predictions

Here's a look at some of the action set to take place in the Shreveport-Bossier City area on the first weekend of the 2023 Louisiana High School Athletic Association high school football playoffs.

No. 24 Benton (5-5) at No. 9 Walker (8-2)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

The Tigers closed the regular season with an impressive win versus Parkway and are capable of knocking off the Wildcats in this Non-Select Division I contest. But a lot must fall right.

Watson’s prediction: Walker 31, Benton 28

No. 19 Parkway (7-3) at No. 14 Belle Chasse (6-3)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

The Panthers closed the regular season with a couple of losses and now the Cardinal lies in wait. We can see Parkway pulling off the upset win.

Watson’s prediction: Belle Chasse 28, Parkway 27

No. 28 Minden (3-7) at No. 5 West Feliciana (8-2)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

The Crimson Tide is happy to be in the postseason, but the Saints are a tough first-round draw.

Watson’s prediction: West Feliciana 34, Minden 18

No. 17 C.E. Byrd (4-6) at No. 16 Jesuit (4-6)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

New Orleans is a fun place to go if your team is playing in the Superdome for a state title. Outside of that, not so much. The Jackets could pull off the road win against the Blue Jays.

Watson’s prediction: Jesuit 32, Byrd 28

No. 21 Woodlawn-B.R. (3-7) at No. 12 Huntington (7-3)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

The Raiders earned themselves a home playoff game with a solid regular season. Now, let’s see if they can keep the season going against the Panthers.

Watson’s prediction: Huntington 40, Woodlawn-B.R. 20

No. 18 Archbishop Rummel (4-6) at No. 15 Northwood (5-5)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

The Falcons get a name opponent to open the postseason and they should be primed and ready for the Raiders.

Watson’s prediction: Northwood 28, Rummel 20

No. 24 BTW (3-7) at No. 9 Livingston Collegiate (6-3)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

The Lions started the season with some success but managed one TD in each of their last three games. It’s doesn’t get easier against the Wolves.

Watson’s prediction: Livingston Collegiate 28, BTW 8

No. 21 Belaire (3-7) at No. 12 Evangel Christian (6-4)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

The Eagles have a propensity to score a lot of points and they’ll be doing that Friday against the Bengals.

Watson’s prediction: Evangel 42, Belaire 14

No. 23 Woodlawn (4-6) at No. 10 Madison Prep (7-3)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

If the Knights are to advance in the LHSAA Select playoffs, they’ll have to step up bigtime against a perennial power in the Chargers.

Watson’s prediction: Madison Prep 35, Woodlawn 28

No. 17 Ascension Episcopal (6-4) at No. 16 Loyola Prep (4-5)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

The Blue Gators were a good draw for the Flyers who love playing in Messmer Stadium. Look for coach Mike Greene’s team to come out firing.

Watson’s prediction: Loyola 30, Ascension Episcopal 28

No. 24 Green Oaks (3-7) at No. 9 Notre Dame (7-3)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Even though this Notre Dame team doesn’t have the Four Horsemen, we expect the Pioneers to have too much firepower for the Giants.

Watson’s prediction: Notre Dame 38, Green Oaks 13

Last week: 10-1 (91%); Season: 88-13 (87%)
