Top prospect Gavin Williams impressive again as Columbus Clippers rout Iowa Cubs
Friday's games: Columbus 15, Iowa 2; Iowa 9, Columbus 8
Recap: Gavin Williams allowed two hits on two runs over five innings as the Clippers routed the Cubs 15-2. Williams struck out nine and walked four. Bo Naylor and Daniel Schneemann homered for Columbus, and Raynel Delgado went 2 for 3 as the only Clipper with more than one hit. Columbus jumped to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and never were threatened. Earlier in the night, the Cubs won 9-8 in a game suspended Thursday evening in the 10th inning because of rain. Nick Madrigal scored the winning run on a fielder's choice by Chase Strumpf in the 10th.
