The top plays from Auburn’s loss to Ole Miss

The Auburn Tigers lost again on Saturday, losing another one-score game at home, this time to Ole Miss, 28-21.

Auburn’s offense was brutal for most of the game once again, as quarterback Payton Thorne had under 50 passing yards until late in the fourth quarter.

The rushing attack was decent, but was outpaced by Ole Miss by 70 yards.

The Tigers’ defense was able to hold a very good Ole Miss offense to just four scores, but the offense couldn’t help them out as Auburn lost its fourth straight SEC game.

Here are some of the best plays from the loss.

After going down early at home, Auburn’s offense was faced with needing to find a spark to answer an Ole Miss offense they knew would put up points.

That spark came on this Jarquez Hunter burst near the end of the first quarter.

The offensive line does a beautiful job moving the line of scrimmage on this play, led by #52 Dillon Wade.

Wade takes two Ole Miss defenders out of the play, leaving Hunter in space with one man to beat.

Auburn’s running back blows by the would be tackler, and turns on the after-burners on his way to a long touchdown.

The Ole Miss offense was able to move the ball between the 20’s fairly well against Auburn’s defense.

It was the key plays Auburn was able to make once Ole Miss got into scoring position that kept them in this game.

This amazing play by Donovan Kaufman and Nehemiah Pritchett was one of those.

With Ole Miss threatening on their first drive of the second half, head coach Lane Kiffin offered to go for a fourth and five rather than try a long field goal or punt.

Jaxon Dart found his receiver on a crossing route, and the two members of Auburn’s secondary made sure he did not sniff the first down sticks, creating an instant change in momentum.

Jalen McLeod's phenomenal effort

This sack by linebacker Jalen McLeod may be the best play an Auburn defender has made all year.

With Ole Miss driving and looking for points late in the first half, McLeod makes an outrageously athletic individual play, taking away the middle of the field for quarterback Jaxon Dart before taking a great angle and sacking him for a loss.

Eugene Asante may have some competition for best linebacker on the team now that McLeod looks fully healthy.

Donovan Kaufman is quickly becoming another budding star on Auburn’s defense.

The junior safety was great all night for Auburn, but his best play may have been this tip-drill interception return in the second quarter.

Kaufman not only becomes the first player to intercept Jaxon Dart this season, but he then turns on the jets and gives his struggling offense a short field to work with.

Auburn would eventually turn the turnover into six points, scoring their final touchdown of the game before garbage time.
