Peyton Hunsucker, Gaston Christian: Finished with 24 digs and 20 assists in a 3-1 loss to Metroline Christian.

Myracle Davis, Kings Mountain: Had nine kills and three blocks in a 3-0 win over Forestview.

Jessie Ozmore, KIngs Mountain: Had eight digs.

Camden Pasour, Kings Mountain: Had 33 assists, two kills and five digs.

Meile Songaila, Kings Mountain: Had 18 kills, three digs and a block.

Girls tennis

Abby Grier, Crest: Won in straight sets in No. 6 singles, along with an 8-0 win in No. 3 doubles against Ashbrook.

Ardan Jones, Crest: Won in straight sets in No. 2 singles, along with an 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles.

Abby Peeler, Crest: Won in straight sets in No. 3 singles, along with an 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles.

Yahir Gonzalez, East Gaston: Scored two goals in the Warriors’ win over Cherryville.

Brodan Barnes, East Lincoln: Scored a goal in a 4-0 win over Statesville.

Brody Felts, East Lincoln: Scored a goal.

Zachary Hoyt, East Lincoln: Scored a goal.

Dominic Feduniec, South Point: Netted a goal and added an assist in a 2-1 win over Forestview.

Jason Gamez, South Point: Scored a goal.

Drew Crotts, Stuart Cramer: Earned a hat trick in the Storm’s 3-1 win over North Gaston.

Ford Wiley, West Lincoln: Scored a goal in a 4-2 loss to Maiden.

Volleyball

Alexa Dos Santos, East Lincoln: Led her team with 11 kills to go with seven digs in a 3-0 win over Statesville.

Stella Neels, East Lincoln: Finished with 10 assists.

Carly Puckett, East Lincoln: Had 10 assists.

Kendall Bynum, HIghland Tech: Finished with 18 assists in a 3-1 win over South Point.

Riley Decker, Highland Tech: Had 22 digs and four assists.

Alise Mayers, Highland Tech: Had 10 kills and 17 digs.

Isabelle Simmons, Highland Tech: Led the Rams with 19 assists.

Madison Thompson, Highland Tech: Had 15 kills and four blocks.

Cross country

Boys

Isaiah Watts, Kings Mountain: Claimed the boys Cleveland County Cross Country title. (17:56.2) Teammate Max Thompson placed second (18:06), with Hunter Cruise (sixth), Luke Howell (seventh), David Johnson (ninth) and Luis Cedillo (10th) earning top 10 finishes. Kings Mountain claimed the county team title, outpacing Shelby by 10 points.

Damon Cook, Shelby: Placed third (19:01.1) at the Cleveland County Cross Country meet. Teammates Steven Morgan and Bly Borders finished fourth and fifth, respectively, helping Shelby to place second as a team.

Girls

Brooke Waseman, Kings Mountain: Claimed the girls Cleveland County Cross Country title with a time of 24:39.4. Teammate Sarah Eagle placed third with a time of 25:23.1.

Addison Walker, Shelby: Placed second in the girls Cleveland County Cross Country meet (25:05.1). She was one of three Golden Lion runners to place in the top five, including Haley Olvera (fourth) and Caroline Bryson (fifth). Shelby claimed the girls team title by four points over Kings Mountain.

Girls tennis

Noelle Martin, Highland Tech: Won in No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-1) and No. 2 doubles (8-1) over South Point.

Misha Singh, Highland Tech: Won 6-1, 6-0 in No. 6 singles and 8-1 in No. 3 doubles.

Annalise Bradley, Shelby: Won 8-0 in No. 5 singles and earned an 8-0 win in No. 3 doubles against Crest.

Caroline Curtis, Shelby: Won 8-1 in No. 2 singles, along with an 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles.

Ella Hensley, Shelby: Won 8-2 in No. 3 singles and 6-1 in No. 2 doubles.

Delaney Pless, Shelby: Won 8-1 in No. 4 singles and 6-1 in No. 2 doubles.

Fritzi Schmidt, Shelby: Won 8-1 in No. 6 singles, along with an 8-0 win in No. 3 doubles.

Anna Schweppe, Shelby: Won 8-1 in No. 1 singles, along with an 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles.

Tuesday, Sept. 12

Volleyball

Emily Allen, Cherryville: Had eight kills, two blocks, nine digs and four assists in a 3-0 loss at East Gaston.

Peyton Hunsucker, Gaston Christian: Had 12 digs and 24 assists in a 3-1 win over Concord Academy.

Piper Riley, Gaston Christian: Had seven kills and 21 digs.

Kendall Parsons, Gaston Christian: Had seven kills and 12 digs.

Camden Pasour, Kings Mountain: Finished with 27 assists, four digs and three kills in a 3-0 win over North Gaston.

Meile Songaila, Kings Mountain: Had 15 kills.

Boys soccer

Chase Owens, Gaston Day: His first half goal was the only scoring in a 1-0 Spartans victory over Carmel Christian. The game was called at halftime due to lightning in the area.

Jaydon Davis, Shelby: Scored a goal in the Golden Lions’ 3-1 win over Bessemer City

Eli Morgan, Shelby: Scored a goal.

Sutton Walsh, Shelby: Scored a goal.

Cross country

Boys

Nehemiah “Nemo” Garcia, Ashbrook: Placed first at the 2023 Gaston County Cross Country Championships with a time of 18:58.01.

Tommy Price, East Gaston: The freshman placed third (19:54.48) at the 2023 Gaston County Cross Country Championships.

Zack Larner, Forestview: Finished second (19:17.20) at the 2023 Gaston County Cross Country Championships.

Ben Kimmel, Hunter Huss: Placed fourth (20:05.98) at the 2023 Gaston County Cross Country Championships.

Girls

Lyla Williams, Highland Tech: The Ram freshman completed her first Gaston County Cross Country Championships with a time of 24:52.44, good for fourth overall.

Maddie Frank, South Point: Won the 2023 Gaston County Cross Country girls championship after crossing the line with a time of 23:04.79. South Point also claimed the overall team title, as Lexi Birtwistle (second), Rachel Tolbert (fifth), Averie Kelly (sixth), Riley Barnard (seventh) and Anslee Perkins (eighth) each finished in the top 10.

Oshauna Holland, Stuart Cramer: Finished third (24:42.11) at the 2023 Gaston County Cross Country championships.

Monday, Sept. 11

Volleyball

Kendall Bynum, Highland Tech: Had 11 digs and 16 assists in a 3-1 win over Piedmont Community Charter.

Lilly Coletta, Highland Tech: Had 19 digs and seven assists

Alise Mayers, Highland Tech: Had 10 kills, 20 digs

Alexus Neal, Highland Tech: Had 12 kills, eight digs

Isabelle Simmons, Highland Tech: Had 23 assists.

Lyric Brown, Piedmont Community Charter: Had three kills and an ace in a 3-1 loss to Highland Tech.

Melony Hoffman, West Lincoln: Her low score of 44 propelled the Rebels to a team score of 140, 21 shots clear of second place during a match at Catawba Country Club. Also contributing were Gracie Campbell (47), Jaylee Smith (49), Aynsley Howard (51) and Calla Varner (53).
