Madison Barwood, Hartford High School

Hartford’s out to avenge its 1-0 loss in the Division II championship and the Hurricanes are doing it with a flurry of goals. They’ve managed three or more scores nine times and knocked off D-I contender Bellows Falls earlier this season.

Barwood leads the group with 24 goals and two assists. Kamryn Brower has supplied 21 goals and 10 assists, while Madison Willey added 12 goals and 11 helpers.

Natalie Beauregard, U-32

The returning Free Press’ all-state forward is again running up points for the Raiders (10-2-1). On the year, Beauregard’s perfect balance of 14 goals and 14 assists paces U-32.

"She is a four-year varsity starter, who is a key playmaker for our team," Raiders' coach Dillon Burns said. "Her powerful shot and punishing drive have scored goals, and set up teammates for cleanup goals.

Violet Clough, Rice Memorial High School

Clough’s entrance to Vermont high school field hockey has been filled with powerful shots. The freshman midfielder pushes play, while scoring seven goals and handing out three helpers in the Green Knights (9-2-1) balanced attack.

"Violet has so much power behind every shot," Rice coach Kelly McClintock said. She, along with the other midfielders, have been vital in creating a lot of offense movement to create scoring opportunities. She has done a tremendous job feeding the forwards so that we can be a scoring threat from many angles."

Bibi Frechette, Champlain Valley High School

The junior midfielder/forward has led the defending champions in scoring this year with 10 goals and seven assists. The Redhawks are in the thick of the Metro League and have scored three goals or more six times this season.

"Bibi is a student of the game, who knows where to be in the circle," CVU coach Tucker Pierson said. "She is involved in most of our scoring opportunities. (She) is a strong athlete and a dynamic threat for us."

Hannah Gubbins, Woodstock Union High School

A Free Press’ all-state first-team forward last season, Gubbins has already surpassed her goal totals in Woodstock’s championship winning year. The senior’s marks include 20 goals and 11 assists as Woodstock (12-1) concludes the regular season on Friday.

"Hannah has great stick skills and speed that have lead to many breakaway goals," Woodstock coach Leanne Tapley said. "(She) has been working hard to dodge around players and move the ball to open space."

Ava LaRoss, Bellows Falls Union High School

Bellows Falls' Ava LaRoss works to get by South Burlington's Kayla Kim during the Terriers' 3-0 loss to the Wolves earlier this season in South Burlington.

LaRoss and Bellows Falls are a balanced group that are eyeing at least a Final Four appearance for the 11th straight year. The senior forward has 13 goals and five assists this fall.

"She has found the back of net as well as made some great passes to her teammates," BF coach Bethany Coursen said.

Ella Maynard, South Burlington High School

Maynard is the next forward in South Burlington’s lineage of goal scorers. The senior has supplied 14 goals and two assists as the Wolves (13-0) aim for D-I’s top seed for the second time in three years.

"(Maynard) is leading our forward line in so many ways this season," South Burlington coach Anjie Soucy said. "Her passing and off-ball movement create a lot of opportunities for our team. She is tenacious in front of the net and has developed some higher level skills that are paying dividends."

Piper Morgan, Burr and Burton Academy

Burr and Burton’s offensive output, which has them at eight wins with two games left, takes an entire cohesive unit. But Morgan’s contributions as a senior wing include 12 goals and 4 assists, which accounts for 70% of the Bulldogs’ offense.

"(Morgan) works hard to make sure she is in the right place at the right time," BBA coach Barb Miceli said. "She has that desire to score that you can't really teach and she is strong, so she is able to get quick and powerful shots on goal."

Nicole Norton, Colchester High School

Norton paces the Lakers with six goals and four assists in coach Shawn Lefebvre's first season back at the helm of Colchester field hockey. The Lakers (8-3-2) have scored at least two goals in five games this year.

On Wednesday, they narrowly lost to undefeated South Burlington 1-0.

Zuzu Rooney, Essex High School

Rooney heads the Hornets' offense with seven goals with one game left before the postseason.

“As our striker, (Rooney) has to cover a lot of ground to always be prepared for that forward pass and ready in the offensive circle," Essex coach Meg Malone said. "We’ve had a lot of low scoring games this season, so each goal is critical — and (Rooney's) tenacity has put points on the board for us in key moments.”
