Here are the top Corpus Christi Class 5A swimmers, divers looking for UIL state berths

The dominance of the Flour Bluff girls swim team stretches beyond their impressive string of consecutive district championships.

When teams from across Region VIII-5A convene at the CCISD Natatorium on Friday and Saturday, the Hornets will be taking aim at their eighth consecutive regional crown. Their counterparts on the boys team have a shot to claim their third straight regional team title, while all swimmers also take their shot at qualifying for the state meet.

Automatic qualifiers are pared dramatically from the district meet, as only the top two finishers in each event are guaranteed to advance to the UIL State Swimming and Diving Championships.

From there the next eight best times around the state are called up to round out the field of 24 in each event in two weeks at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin.

In addition to a large contingent of Flour Bluff swimmers in good position to qualify for state, King's Emily Hand, the girls Swimmer of the Meet at the District 29-5A meet (50 free, 100 free), and Veterans Memorial's Dabeluchi Isiofia (50 free) also have seed times that will put them in the mix.
