Tommy White says he was confident ahead of game-winning HR vs. Wake Forest
Tommy White played the hero on Thursday night in a decisive game against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
Stepping up to the plate in a 0-0 tie in the 11th inning, White unleashed on a ball, knocking it out of the stadium to give the Tigers a walk-off win and advance them into the College World Series final against Florida.
White has struggled a bit in Omaha. He was just 5 of 17 entering the game and had just one RBI this week. However, he came up clutch when the team needed him, and he said he was as confident as he always is at the plate.
“I’m always confident in the box. That’s just how I play the game,” White said, per On3. “I don’t think I was struggling. I thought I was doing all right.
“I was super confident. Just doing my deal. That’s about it.”
The Tigers will hope White is able to catch fire as LSU looks to overcome a pitching advantage against a rested Florida team in the final.
