Tomas Nido's time with Mets coming to an end as he is DFA'd with return of Omar Narvaez

Tomas Nido's time with the New York Mets is coming to an end.

The veteran catcher was designated for assignment Monday as the Mets activated Omar Narvaez from the injured list.

Narvaez, who was dealing with a calf strain, played four rehab games at Triple-A Syracuse this week, going 3-for-15 with a double, two RBI and two walks.

The Mets selected Nido in the eighth round of the 2012 MLB Draft and promoted him to the big leagues in September 2017.

In parts of seven seasons with the Mets, Nido batted .213 with 13 home runs and 74 RBI. He was a Gold Glove finalist in 2022.
