The Spartans will take a 10-day trip to Spain from Aug. 13-22, the second time Izzo’s program has made an international trip. Coming off a Final Four appearance, MSU visited Italy in August 2015 and played four games amid a multicity tour of the country.

This time, Izzo and the Spartans will visit Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia on the excursion to Spain. Details are still being worked out with both travel and competition itineraries, a program spokesman said Wednesday.

MSU also did a summer tour of Australia in 1991 under previous coach Jud Heathcote when Izzo was his top assistant. The Spartans also will play in the Maui Invitational during the 2024-25 season for the first time since 2019-20.
