Here is a weekly look at the Tennessee Titans snap counts.
The most offensive stat here is the 41 snap total. As usual, the offensive line played all of the snaps. Eric Decker and Rishard Matthews played 83 percent of the snaps with Taywan Taylor netting 59 percent. The Tight ends usage was somewhat typical with Delanie Walker getting 76 percent but Jonnu Smith at 54 percent. Phillip Supernaw appears to be getting phased out more and more. He dropped to just three snaps this week. This change was predicted by many this offseason, but after the success of Anthony Fasano and Craig Stevens, it seemed Coach Mike Mularkey would still insist on using a blocking tight end often. Jalston Fowler is seeing his playing time increase. Are the Titans finally transitioning to an offense where they use their top-rated fullback? Most notable is the 56-44 share between DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry.
The Titans defense “couldn’t get off the field” due to Deshaun Watson’s success. Curtis Riley playing 14 percent more snaps than DaNorris Searcy illustrates a potential transition that was mentioned last week. Nate Palmer replacing Avery Williamson some, indicates Mularkey’s dissatisfaction with Williamson’s performance. Sylvester Williams played more than in any other game. Impressive second year cornerback LeShaun Sims only received 43 percent of the snaps while rookie Adoree Jackson struggled and stayed in for 93 percent. Jackson needs to get experience, but he also needs to keep some pride too. Sims should have probably played more. With the Titans listing Austin Johnson as a nose tackle (and he did play nose this week) and Erik Walden as an OLB they appear to only have one defensive end.
