Titans will receive third-round compensatory pick in 2021

The projection that the Tennessee Titans would receive a third-round compensatory pick in the 2021 NFL draft has indeed come to fruition after the NFL notified teams of their comp selections on Wednesday.

The comp pick will add a second selection for the Titans in the third round and will come at No. 100 overall. Tennessee now has a grand total of four picks in the top 100.

The Titans had three players count against the compensatory pick formula last offseason in Jack Conklin, Marcus Mariota and Vic Beasley, per Over the Cap. Jadeveon Clowney did not count because of how late he signed.

Mariota and Beasley both received similar money and warranted a fifth-round comp pick, but cancelled each other out with Beasley coming to Nashville and Mariota leaving for the Las Vegas Raiders.

The big difference-maker here for Tennessee was Conklin signing his big deal with the Cleveland Browns, leading to general manager Jon Robinson getting an extra pick in the top half of the 2021 NFL draft.

In all, the Titans have nine picks in the upcoming draft, with one in the first, second, fourth, fifth and seventh rounds (the seventh-rounder was acquired in the Isaiah Wilson trade), as well as two in the third and sixth rounds.
