TinCaps sweep doubleheader from Captains with walk-off, shutout

Apr. 13—Host Fort Wayne swept a doubleheader from the Captains on April 13, winning the first game, 4-3, and the second game, 3-0.

The Captains led, 3-1, going into the bottom of the seventh. The TinCaps' Jarryd Dale tripled in a run to make it 3-2. Two batters later, Homer Bush Jr. singled in Dale to tie the game. Tyler Robertson followed with the game-winning single.

Juan Zapata took the loss. He pitched 1 1/3 innings, gave up three runs, struck out two and walked one.

Lake County scored all of its runs on home runs. Alex Mooney hit a solo homer in the second inning, and C.J. Kayfus hit a two-run shot in the sixth.

—In the second game, the Captains managed five hits, but were 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Nate Furman had two hits, including a double.

Lake County starter Austin Peterson struck out eight and didn't walk any in five innings. He gave up six hits and two runs, both earned.

The series is set to conclude at 1:05 p.m., April 14. Each team has won two games in this series, with one game canceled.
