Thursday's Top Prep Performers: Westlake's Maziasz joins 1,000-point club

BOYS BASKETBALL

  • Junior Austin Maziasz scored 21 points to reach the 1,000-point career milestone and also grabbed seven rebounds, Dante Deshautelle finished with 12 points, four rebounds and four assists, Danny Bao scored 12 points, Axel Ostergard had 10 points, and Kayden Elsokary added four rebounds and four assists to lead Westlake (11-3) to an 82-52 victory over Sylmar at the Cal Lu Showcase.

  • Luke Ortiz finished with 28 points and 12 rebounds, Josh Ullegue had 14 points and seven assists, Wakine Molina scored 11 points, and Jayden Iyer added seven points for Buena (6-9) in its 76-62 loss to Chaminade at the Cal Lu Showcase.

  • Jackson Knowles scored 17 points and Rodney Adams Jr. had 15 points for Rio Mesa in its 49-47 loss to Viewpoint at the Cal Lu Showcase.

  • Grayson Coleman scored a career-high 25 points, Bryce Dameworth had a career-high 19 points, and Odijie Okojie added eight points to lead Calabasas (9-3) to a 69-45 victory over Cleveland at the Cal Lu Showcase.

  • Jeremy Goodcase scored 24 points, Dylan Benner had 18 points, and Donald Clark IV had 13 points to lead St. Bonaventure (8-5) to a 68-58 victory over Valley (Nev.) on the final day of the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas.

  • All-tournament selection JJ De Santiago scored 16 points, David Alvarez had 14 points, tournament MVP Jose Valdovinos had 10 points, and all-tournament selection Carlos Xicotencatl added seven points as Santa Paula (12-2) defeated Cabrillo 57-37 to win the Carpinteria Tournament title.

  • Nick Giarrusso finished with 12 points, five assists and two steals, Stevie Prudholme scored 11 points, and Lukas LeChau had eight points, five rebounds and two steals for Oaks Christian in its 55-52 loss to Chatsworth in a semifinal game of the Faith Baptist Tournament.

  • Ethan Klopp, DJ Jacob and Ahmad Razaqi each had seven points for Agoura in its 89-46 loss to Notre Dame in a semifinal game of the Faith Baptist Tournament.

  • Levi Oakes scored 16 points, Tanner Stotts had 14 points and JJ Ward added seven points for Moorpark in its 58-50 loss to Granada Hills Charter at the Faith Baptist Tournament.

  • Sophomore Ashton Brown poured in 32 points and sophomore Brody Baker finished with 17 points to lead Foothill Tech to a 63-55 victory over Hillcrest Christian in a nonleague game.

BOYS SOCCER

  • Pabel Ayala scored two goals, Justin Cruz had a goal, and Chris Carbajal, Gio Flores and Mariodavid Vega had assists to lead Oxnard (6-2-1, 2-1-1) to a 3-1 victory over Rio Mesa in a Channel League match. David Marmolejo scored the goal for the Spartans (6-6-1, 1-4-0).

GIRLS SOCCER

  • Meztli Zambrano and Sienna Pimental scored goals, Jazlynn Gomez earned the shutout in goal, and lana Gonzalez, Jenny Salas, Cynthia Centeno and Janelle Franco led a strong defensive effort to carry Oxnard (5-2-1, 3-1-1) to a 2-0 victory over Rio Mesa in a Channel League match. Ashley Hernandez and Tanaya Moreno played well for the Spartans (6-2-3, 2-1-2).

  • Ava Dermott scored a goal off an assist by Malea Johnson for Oak Park in its 1-1 draw with Calabasas in a nonleague match.

BOYS WRESTLING

  • Agoura edged Newbury Park 39-37 in a Marmonte League dual.

GIRLS WATER POLO

  • Agoura defeated Newbury Park 10-4 in a nonleague game.
