Thursday's Top Prep Performers from a busy day in high school spring sports

Highlights from Thursday in high school sports:

SOFTBALL

  • Sydney Katz hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to lift Westlake to a 5-4 win over Newbury Park in a Marmonte League opener. Amanda Baldwin went 2 for 4 with a homer and two RBIs, Samy Gallegos was 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored, Cat Anzalone and Oliva Ziebell-White each went 2 for 3, and Linden McCarl pitched a complete game for the Warriors (7-2, 1-0). Janessa Gutierrez went 4 for 4 with a triple, homer and four RBIs, Yasmin Topinko was 3 for 4, and Taylor Cook allowed one earned run while striking out seven in 6.1 innings for the Panthers (11-1, 0-1), who suffered their first defeat of the season.

  • Jayden Claycamp pitched a four-hit shutout with six strikeouts, Justice Flores had a double and two RBIs, Sammie Soto had a hit and two RBIs, Alianna Rodriguez was 2 for 2, and Angelina Apodaca was 1 for 3 to lead Camarillo (8-2, 1-0) to a 5-0 victory over Royal in a Coastal Canyon League game. Yadira Montes went 1 for 3 with a double for the Highlanders (7-4, 0-1).

  • Arianna Ochoa went 2 for 4 with a solo home run, Allison Hinds hit a two-run homer, Lauren Ro was 3 for 4 with a double, and Alaina Foreman went 2 for 3 with two doubles to lead Simi Valley (6-6, 1-1) to a 6-4 win over Moorpark in a Coastal Canyon League game. Daniela Isararras went 2 for 2 with a triple and three RBIs and Driana Martinez was 3 for 4 with two run scored for the Musketeers (5-5, 1-1).

  • Mia Gomez hit her sixth home run of the season and finished 4 for 4 with three RBIs, Amaya Del Olmo went 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs, Jordy Charash was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Briona Ferdman went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Claire Heisinger was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Sloan Briggs allowed five hits in 4.1 scoreless innings to lead Agoura (5-4, 2-1) to a 12-0, five-inning win over Thousand Oaks in a Marmonte League game.

  • Janelle Rillo-Figueroa went 2 for 2 with two home runs, two walks and five RBIs and allowed just two hits while striking out six in a five-inning shutout, Lily Knox was 2 for 2 with a double, homer and three RBIs, and Rylee McCoy had a homer and two RBIs to lead Oaks Christian (7-2, 1-0) to a 16-0 victory over Calabasas in a Marmonte League game.

  • Rosy Salazar allowed one earned run and three hits while striking out 13 in the circle and went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Grace Maguire had a home run and two RBIs, Ava DePew was 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Maddy Kenny went 1 for 4 with an RBI to lead unbeaten Grace Brethren (8-0-1, 2-0) to a 6-3 victory over Bishop Diego in a Tri-Valley League game.

  • Zoe Vanderbok went 2 for 3 for Oak Park (4-6) in its 11-0 loss to Granada Hills in a nonleague game.

BASEBALL

  • Gavin Trafficanda allowed five hits and one earned run in five innings, Will Michelman was 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Tyler Starling went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, and Nahuel Ibañez was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI to lead Agoura (6-4) to a 16-5 win over Buena in a nonleague game. Elijah Garcia and Brody Kaylor each had a double and two RBIs for the Bulldogs (1-10).

  • Steven Gormley allowed five hits and one earned run in five innings, Max Fernandez and Chris Atkins each went 1 for 2 with an RBI, and Max Weitz was 1 for 3 with an RBI to lead Thousand Oaks (6-4) to a 6-3 win over Foothill Tech in a nonleague game. Cooper Casey went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Adam Arth was 2 for 3, and Hayden Villa and Tristen Stehle had RBIs for the Dragons (5-5-1).

  • Matthew Witkow was 3 for 5 with a double, Will Stubington went 3 for 6 with an RBI, and Simon Hoffman was 2 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs for Calabasas (6-4) in its 8-6, 10-inning loss to San Dimas in a nonleague game.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

  • Thousand Oaks defeated Westlake 80-56 and Calabasas 89-36 and Westlake defeated Calabasas 100-36 in a tri-Marmonte League meet. For Thousand Oaks, Oliver Clippinger-Zimmerman won the 1,600 (4:35.12) and 3,200 (9:59.70). Lucas Schneider won the 110 hurdles (16.69). Liam Papavasiliou won the 800 (2:03.12). Andrew Simon-Lacombe won the long jump (21-05.25). For Westlake, Dante Deshautelle won the high jump (6-01). Cade Sommers won the pole vault (15-0). Malikai Bowens won the triple jump (41-11). Lawson Grace won the shot put (48-06) and discus (141-03). For Calabasas, Kingston Celefie won the 100 (11.24) and 400 (49.65). Eliot Monick won the 300 hurdles (41.97). Mentoa McKenzie won the 200 (22.43).

  • Camarillo defeated Royal 77-58 in a Coastal Canyon League meet. For Camarillo, David Caldino won the 100 (11.29) and 200 (22.16). Trevor Stimpson won the 400 (52.98). Diego Montag won the 1,600 (4:27.87). Jacson Cutting won the 110 hurdles (17.90) and 300 hurdles (44.21). Vincent Pizza won the high jump (5-06). Jelani Kawaichi won the long jump (19-06) and triple jump (41-05.50). Landon McDermott won the discus (115-05). For Royal, Asher Lee won the 800 (1:59.67) and 3,200 (10:08.68). Sean Sandwick won the shot put (47-01). Graham LaBass won the pole vault (13-0).

  • Carpinteria defeated Hueneme 77-43 in a Citrus Coast League meet. For Hueneme, Pope Oy won the 800 (2:11.39) and 1,600 (4:53.91). J.R. Lesher won the 3,200 (10:36.20). Charles Soong won the long jump (17-00.75).

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

  • Thousand Oaks defeated Westlake 88-48 and Calabasas 78-56 and Westlake defeated Calabasas 68-60 in a tri-Marmonte League meet. For Thousand Oaks, Cassidy Kajita won the 1,600 (5:17.16) and 3,200 (11:59.94). Hayden Linville won the 100 hurdles (17.46). Morgan Quinn won the 200 (25.93). Madison Thai won the high jump (4-10) and triple jump (34-05). For Westlake, Claudia Turner won the 300 hurdles (49.12) and pole vault (11-09). Amanda Eames won the long jump (16-06.50). For Calabasas, Paige Porter won the 400 (57.05). Lahela Ray won the 100 (12.48). Zoe Ray won the 800 (2:22.52). Violet Mankowski won the shot put (27-03) and discus (104-08).

  • Camarillo defeated Royal 84-52 in a Coastal Canyon League meet. For Camarillo, Carisa Legaspi won the 400 (1:03.46). Samara Alaniz won the 800 (2:32.11). Lilliana Sanders won the 1,600 (5:36.71) and 3,200 (12:15.70). Monet Taylor won the 100 hurdles (17.20). Trinity Tipton won the shot put (35-08) and discus (126-10). Brooklyn Bell won the high jump (4-08). For Royal, Olivia Kirk won the 100 (12.41), 200 (25.84) and 300 hurdles (48.44). Ava Hermanson won the pole vault (9-0). Quincie Richards won the long jump (18-04.925) and set the school record in the triple jump (38-04.25).

  • Carpinteria defeated Hueneme 103-15 in a Citrus Coast League meet. For Hueneme, Alexa Ponce won the 1,600 (6:11.40).

BOYS SWIMMING

  • Oak Park defeated Camarillo 90-79 and Royal 84-83, while Camarillo and Royal tied 85-85 in a tri-Coastal Canyon League meet. For Oak Park, Pablo Ingrum won the 200 freestyle (1:48.30) and 500 freestyle (4:55.47). March Yuan won the 200 IM (2:01.80). Elliott Drottar won the 50 freestyle (22.34) and 100 breaststroke (1:03.47). For Royal, Aneesh Veeravatnam won the 100 butterfly (53.37) and 100 backstroke (54.79). Tommy Shea won the 100 freestyle (53.11).

GIRLS SWIMMING

  • Camarillo defeated Oak Park 109-56 and Royal 131-23 and Oak Park defeated Royal 77-47 in a tri-Coastal Canyon League meet. For Camarillo, Olivia Farrell won the 200 freestyle (2:18.29). Carissa Clay won the 50 freestyle (27.91). Kyla Kitchen won the 100 butterfly (1:15.39). Analee Lam won the 100 freestyle (58.76). Kaley Robison won the 500 freestyle (6:15.00). For Oak Park, Caroline Bi won the 200 IM (2:20.30) and 100 backstroke (1:01.32). For Royal, Faith Marshall won the 100 breaststroke (1:11.82).

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

  • JP Mawas had 30 assists, Joseph Soltero finished with nine kills, Danny Guerrero had seven kills, and Caiden Aguilar added six kills to lead Oxnard (7-7, 3-2) to a 25-16, 25-12, 25-15 sweep of Buena in a Channel League match.

  • JF Referente finished with eight kills, seven digs and two aces, Adael Perez had five kills, three aces and three blocks, Karsen Shaw had eight kills, and Jason Mejia amassed 18 assists to lead Rio Mesa (12-2, 3-2) to a 25-18, 25-16, 25-18 sweep of Ventura in a Channel League match.

  • Nikko Songco had 12 kills, Sinjon Laughton finished with six kills and three blocks, and Will Nicks added two kills and five blocks to lead Oak Park to a 25-20, 25-15, 25-23 sweep of Royal in a Coastal Canyon League match.

  • Camarillo earned a 27-25, 25-12, 25-16 sweep of Moorpark to improve to 9-0 overall and 2-0 in the Coastal Canyon League.

BOYS GOLF

  • Sammy Bermant was the medalist with a 76 to lead Westlake to a 392-415 over Agoura in a Marmonte League match at par-70 Los Robles Greens Golf Course. Cooper Greenwood shot a 77 and Bryce Bowman had a 79 for the Chargers (3-4).

  • Justin Lee shot an 84 and Hayden Joliet had an 85 for Oaks Christian in its 402-452 loss to West Ranch in a nonleague match at Encino Country Club.

  • Raj Hundal shot a 75 and Tyler Meister had 84 for Camarillo (3-2) in its 409-433 loss to Dos Pueblos (5-0) in a nonleague match at par-71 Spanish Hills Country Club.

  • Greydon Phelps shot as 38 as Malibu had a team total of 222 to take first place in the second round of the Citrus Coast League tournament at Soule Park Golf Course. Dylan Blacker was the medalist with a 37 and Charlie Schurmer had a 38 for second-place Nordhoff (243). Diego Salazar shot a 48 for third-place Hueneme (267). Rocky Manzano shot a 48 for fourth-place Santa Paula (280). Isaac Weslow shot a 51 for fifth-place Fillmore (280). Francisco Maldonado shot a 61 for sixth-place Channel Islands.

BOYS TENNIS

  • Kei Ohya swept his singles sets and Karthik Tholudur and Jason Kiang swept in doubles to lead Newbury Park to a 13-5 win over Agoura for the Panthers' second Marmonte League win.

  • Oaks Christian defeated Thousand Oaks 10-8 to improve to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Marmonte League.

  • Oak Park defeated Royal 11-7 to improve to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the Coastal Canyon League.

  • Camarillo defeated Moorpark 14-4 in a Coastal Canyon League match.

  • Marcus Poon and Jonas Rutherford each swept their singles sets and the doubles team of Santiago Saucedo and Sami Buscemi swept its sets to lead Villanova Prep (4-1, 1-0) to a 12-6 win over Laguna Blanca in a Frontier League match.
